WWE Speed to debut on X/Twitter

WWE is one of the biggest professional wrestling promotions, which has been looking for opportunities to make the company bigger like never before. We have witnessed a number of innovative matches in the company, which have turned out to be iconic such as Royal Rumble, Money in the Bank, and much more. Now, the company has officially announced that a new match stipulation match is about to debut on the digital platform.

WWE Speed on X

At the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff Press Conference, Michael Cole announced that WWE Speed matches will be launched exclusively on X/Twitter on a weekly basis from Spring 2024. It is basically high-paced matches, where the matches are held with a five-minute time limit.

It seems like the company has been giving social media platforms more importance where the usual kickoff and digital exclusives are streamed. The company also signed a big deal recently and moved the premium weekly show Raw to the biggest OTT digital platform Netflix from 2025.

Previously during the December 15 SmackDown taping, WWE conducted two matches under the name WWE Speed during the pre-show featuring stars from WWE & NXT. The matches had a 5 minute time limit and the countdown appeared on the big screen.

Where, the first match featured NXT star Nathan Frazer and Raw Superstar Bronson Reed, where Bronson Reed won. In the second match Cedric Alexander faced NXT’s Axiom and Alexander won. It seems like a short version of the Iron man match with a shorter duration. However, there isn’t any information about what the other stipulation of the match is.

Sean Ross Sapp previously speculated that WWE Speed could be something similar to Main Event, and now it turned out to be true. Do you think the fast paced match stipulation could turn out good for the company and to slowly move it digital? Comment your thoughts.
