The former multi-time World Champion has been absent from WWE since May 2024!
Former multi-time Champion Asuka has been absent from WWE programming since May 2024. Despite major speculations and reports she has missed multiple PLEs, including WrestleMania 41.
However, despite recent reports that suggested that she would make her return by the end of 2025, ‘The Empress of Tomorrow’ is making her return on the June 16 show of Monday Night Raw. The June 16 episode of Monday Night Raw will air live from the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
SmackDown’s General Manager Nick Aldis is filling in for GM Adam Pearce, who is on vacation. The two remaining spots in the King and Queen of the Ring tournament semi-finals will be filled on tonight’s show. of WWE Raw.
In the final opening round match for the Queen of the Ring tournament, Asuka will battle Ivy Nile, Stephanie Vaquer, and Raquel Rodriguez. The winner of the match will join Alexa Bliss in the semi-finals.
Asuka suffered a knee injury that forced her out of action
Asuka’s last in-ring appearance came on the 2024 edition of Backlash, which emanated from the LDLC Arena in Décines-Charpieu, Lyon, France. The Empress of Tomorrow defended the WWE Women’s Tag Team Title alongside her tag partner Kairi Sane (The Kabuki Warriors).
The Kabuki Warriors suffered defeat at the hands of Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill, who captured the tag titles, ending their fourth title reign at 99 days.
Two days later on Raw, Asuka confirmed that she had been suffering from a knee injury for months and had undergone surgery. The injury forced her out of the company’s post-Backlash storylines and halted her momentum as a key part of the women’s division.
Since then, she has been undergoing rehabilitation and is now set to make her return at the Resch Center in Green Bay. It would be interesting to see what storyline and feuds the promotion decides for her. Fans have already suggested a feud with Women’s World Champion Iyo Sky.
The two were part of Damage CTRL, which was quietly disbanded since the release of Dakota Kai. Asuka might continue as a heel, attacking Sky, sparking a feud between the two, which might lead to a clash at WWE Evolution next month.
