All matches & segments announced for WWE SmackDown (May 2, 2025): Aleister Black to face The Miz & more

Aleister Black will be in action next week

The first SmackDown after WrestleMania 41 came in hot from Fort Worth, Texas and it gave us everything we love about post-Mania chaos. Big returns, title changes, wild matches and new rivalries are already heating up the road to WWE Backlash 2025.

The show kicked off with John Cena talking about his historic 17th world title win but Randy Orton had other plans. After a war of words, Orton dropped Cena with a nasty RKO and their Undisputed WWE Championship match was made official for Backlash in Orton’s hometown of St Louis.

Nick Aldis made some moves too, introducing the blue brand’s newest tag team, FrAxiom, made up of Nathan Frazer and Axiom. They faced Los Garza and showed why SmackDown’s tag division just got a lot faster and a lot flashier.

Zelina Vega had her moment by beating Chelsea Green to become the new WWE Women’s United States Champion, ending Green’s first reign in a huge win.

The surprises kept coming when Nia Jax returned and attacked Tiffany Stratton setting her sights on the WWE Women’s Championship. She later warned Naomi backstage to stay out of her way.

Then came Aleister Black making his chilling return to shut up The Miz with a brutal Black Mass. After leaving Miz laid out WWE confirmed that Aleister Black will face The Miz in a singles match next week on the Blue Brand.

The night ended with pure chaos as The Street Profits survived a brutal TLC match against #DIY and the Motor City Machine Guns to keep their WWE Tag Team Titles.
