Bayley reveals old text message from IYO SKY ahead of their WWE WrestleMania 40 clash

Damage CTRL is one of the most dominant all women factions in WWE, formed by Bayley with IYO SKY and Dakota Kai. The trio made their first appearance at SummerSlam 2022 after Bianca Belair vs Becky Lynch’s match. They have made a huge impact in the women’s division right from day one and clinched success too soon.

IYO SKY & Dakota Kai captured the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship with the guidance of the leader and were involved in a number of storylines while being on Raw. They got drafted to SmackDown last year and the Role Model worked hard to make IYO SKY the WWE Women’s Champion for the very first time, by the Money in the Bank cash-in.

As they had great success, the inclusion of Kairi Sane & Asuka brought major change to the faction. It slowly paved the way to isolating her, as they started talking on her back. The leader tried to fix things with a huge win at Royal Rumble, but they still felt Bayley was odd.

The Role Model found that she will be kicked out soon and asked IYO about talking behind their back. This made the rest of Damage CTRL turn on Bayley, resulting in Bayley challenging IYO SKY for the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 40. With less than two weeks away, the Role Model shared the old message of pitching the formation of Damage CTRL to IYO SKY.

Bayley shares old text chat with IYO SKY

Bayley on X shared an old text message pitching the idea of formation of Damage CTRL with Io Shirai (IYO SKY). Bayley on March 12, 2022 via iMessage, sent a text message to Io Shirai stating, “Hi Io! This is Bayley. I got your number from Dakota, I hope that’s okay. I have an idea that I want to pitch and it would involve you. Would you be interested?”. To which Io replied, “Hi Bayley!! Of course!! I’m so interested!!”. The role model then said that she would be explaining better in person.

It is probably the first conversation between the two and it is clear that the talks were for the formation of Damage CTRL. They executed their plan exactly five months later at SummerSlam 2022. It is visible how far they came in the last two years and how things have changed.
