Some WWE superstars know how to change the game with a microphone in their hand.

A WWE superstar is not only a larger-than-life and vibrant persona wrestling inside the squared circle but levels way beyond that. An important element that takes the career of a WWE superstar to unprecedented heights is their delivery on the microphone.

In wrestling terms, it is defined as “cutting a promo” where the superstar either addresses the audience in his unique manner or goes back and forth with his opponent. As WWE has seen an influx of talented microphone talkers, here are the top five names among them on the active roster.

5. Jey Uso

Jey Uso has become a household name in the wrestling world ever since he branched out on his own on Monday Night RAW as a singles star. Much like Stone Cold Steve Austin did with his “WHAT” chants and verbal scratches, Uso has captivated the audience with his “YEET” chants and smooth promo delivery to build a strong connection with his now “YEETflies” of WWE.

4. Seth Rollins

One of the key reasons Seth Rollins emerged as a main event caliber WWE superstar in the modern era was his ability to connect with the fanbase. Whether he was the heel Messiah or the beloved Visionary with an unusual laugh who had the fans tuning to his song each time he came out, Rollins captivated the fans each time he had a microphone in his hand, making him the top attraction he is today.

3. Roman Reigns

During his initial run as The Big Dog, Roman Reigns was heavily panned for his lackluster promo delivery which also contributed to the audience failing to connect with him. However, once he donned the armor of The Tribal Chief, Reigns’ promo skills ascended to a whole different level bringing a huge essence of cinema and dramatization to his character and commanding the attention of the WWE universe like no other.

2. The Miz

It can be argued that The Miz built his fame and caliber as a top WWE superstar, not based on his in-ring acumen, but majorly due to his entertainment factor that had a lot to do with his microphone ability. The Miz is known to lay down verbal smackdowns on his opponents and deliver raging promos in the history of WWE. Some famous instances include a barrage over Daniel Bryan in 2016 on Talking Smack and even degrading poster boys like John Cena and Roman Reigns altogether.

1. CM Punk

If there is anyone who can be called ‘The Master of the Stick’ in WWE, the list is very well topped by CM Punk. The Best in the World went unnoticed until he grabbed a microphone and sat atop the entrance ramp in 2011 to deliver his infamous ‘Pipebomb’ on the entire company.

Since then, Punk has been considered one of the best talkers in the history of the business who can lay a verbal barrage on his opponents and bury them six feet under with just a microphone in his hands.
