Big E is a former WWE World Champion

The New Day’s Powerhouse Big E signed with the WWE in 2009. The 209-pound tank of a man entered the WWE and started making a name for himself in the ring. The sheer presence and command of the ring stamped his success in the WWE. He went on to bag the NXT champion, the Intercontinental title, and the WWE Champion to cement his name in the history books.

Following a serious neck injury in March 2022, the former WWE Champion took a hiatus from action. In that month, Big E fractured his two cervical vertebrae, C1 and C6. During a sequence, the former champion took a belly-to-belly suplex from fellow wrestler Ridge Holland. However, he landed on his neck badly, causing the injury.

In April 2024, The Florida native provided an update on his injury and stated that he was now living pain-free. He is also undergoing stem cell treatment as per recent reports. Amid the cracks that started appearing in the New Day after Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston, There are rumors that the powerhouse of New Day could return to the ring.

Amid speculation of his return, let us look at Big E’s top five best WWE matches.

5. Big E vs Seth Rollins (January 2013)

After signing with the WWE in 2009, Ewen became the second-ever NXT champion after defeating Seth Rollins in a no-disqualification match. Since it was a no-disqualification match, Rollins had his Shield brothers aid him in the title match.

Big E was attacked multiple times whenever he came close to winning the fight. However, the NXT locker room came to help him and took the Shields out of the arena leaving Rollins alone in the ring with the powerhouse of the New Day. In the final moments, the challenger delivered his finishing move Big Ending to claim the NXT title.

4. Big E vs Curtis Axel (Raw, November 2013)

Curtis Axel defended his Intercontinental title against New Day’s Powerhouse on November 18, 2013. Axel defeated Wade Barrett and The Miz in a triple-threat match to win the title. His title reign came to an end after the challenger landed Big Ending and pinned Axel to bag the Intercontinental title.

3. Big E vs Sami Zayn ( Smackdown, December 2020)

On the December 25 episode of SmackDown, Sami Zayn defended his Intercontinental title against the New Day’s Powerhouse in a lumberjack match. After a brawl broke out ringside between the lumberjacks Zayn tried to escape the arena.

Zayn was caught and brought back to the Thunderdome by the lumberjacks. Despite Zayn’s efforts, he was unable to pin the challenger and the Florida native ultimately pinned Zayn to bag the title for the second time.

2. Money in the Bank 2021 (July 18, 2021)

On July 18, the Florida native shattered Seth Rollins’ attempt to gain the Money in the Bank briefcase. Rollins was about to unlock the hook holding the briefcase when the New Day’s Powerhouse reentered the fray to deliver a spine-shattering Big Ending from the ladder. After clearing the field he went on to unhook the briefcase to claim the Money in the Bank 2021.

1. Big E cashes in his Money in the Bank (Raw, September 13, 2021)

Following Bobbly Lashley’s win over Randy Orton on September 13, 2021. Big E cashed in his Money in the Bank contract against the champion. Due to exhaustion and injury during the fight with Orton, The All-Mighty was forced to defend his title. The New Day’s Powerhouse pinned Lashley to win the WWE title for the first time in his career.
