The 2025 Royal Rumble event had many outcomes that left the fans disappointed.

WWE Royal Rumble 2025 is officially in the books and turned out to be one of the most successful editions of the show in the last 38 years. The event was marked by surprise returns, memorable moments and two WWE superstars clinching a main event World title opportunity for WrestleMania 41.

Despite that, there were a lot of moments and questionable booking decisions that left a bad taste in the mouths of fans. These decisions received overwhelming negative reactions with seven of those being huge flops for the 2025 WWE Royal Rumble event.

7. Lyra Valkyria’s early elimination

Lyra Valkyria had a lot of momentum walking into the Women’s Royal Rumble. She recently became the first-ever WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion and could have taken her status as a top star on RAW with a spectacular performance. Instead, she was the second person to be eliminated from the match by Ivy Nile and scored no eliminations as well.

6. Surprise return disappointment in Women’s Rumble

The WWE Universe was expecting a lot of names to show up in the Women’s Royal Rumble who did not show up. One of them was definitely Becky Lynch, who has been absent since May 2024 and has been rumoured to return on numerous big stages, but she didn’t.

Another name was Jade Cargill, and she was expected to return and start her rumoured storyline with Bianca Belair, with WWE disappointing the fans in a huge way.

5. Drew McIntyre’s Royal Rumble performance

Drew McIntyre was expected to deliver a power-packed performance in the Royal Rumble match. Instead, he did not have any memorable spots and scored zero eliminations despite being in the match for close to 26 minutes, which included multiple Bloodline members in spite of his long-time beef with them.

Moreover, McIntyre had a botch elimination and reportedly had a fallout backstage, leading to exiting the event before the end.

4. Bad ending to tag title match

Despite having a blockbuster 2-out-of-3 falls match, the ending of the Motor City Machine Guns and DIY was a terrible booking. WWE’s decision to have The Street Profits show up as hooded figures to help DIY retain their tag titles showed signs of a heel turn by attacking MCMG and then attacking DIY as well, making it a very unclear and abrupt ending to the match and a huge flop.

3. Jey Uso’s Rumble win was overshadowed by the negative response

Jey Uso rose to the top of the food chain with a spectacular rise in 2024. The YEET man achieved one of the biggest accolades of his WWE career so far by winning the 30-man Royal Rumble match and punching his ticket for a World title match at WrestleMania 41. But Jey Uso’s win was overshadowed by the negative reactions of the fans with his winning clip getting multiple dislikes on social media as the fans were expecting another name to win.

2. Charlotte Flair winning the Rumble

All the hard work done by many players of the WWE Women’s division went up in smoke as soon as Charlotte Flair made her return at the Royal Rumble event. The Queen last eliminated Roxanne Perez and won her second rumble match in the process. The woman who missed the entire last year and was inserted straight away back into the main event scene garnered major negativity from fans and a bad booking decision by WWE.

1. John Cena losing the Men’s Rumble

Perhaps the biggest flop in the 2025 Royal Rumble event has to be John Cena, lasting till the end of the Men’s Rumble match and not walking away the winner in his last Rumble appearance. The shocking reactions and anger of the fans were evident in the arena and on social media, panning WWE for their decision as this was the Cenation Leader’s chance to tie Stone Cold Steve Austin with the most rumble wins record and head to WrestleMania 41 to challenge for his 17th World title.
