WWE Royal Rumble has many mistakes made but none like what mentioned below
The WWE Royal Rumble is full of exciting moments and shocks. However, the fast-paced, frenetic bouts have not been without errors.
WWE has occasionally committed major booking errors. Fans have criticized the event for several reasons, including dubious eliminations, missing superstars, and inaccurate winners.
Sometimes superstars in the ring make blunders and botches that have long-term consequences. While the botches are not intentional, they do have an influence on the entire match.
Let’s look at the top five biggest botches & mistakes made by WWE in Royal Rumble history:
5. Daniel Bryan not in 2014 Royal Rumble
Daniel Bryan was one of the most popular WWE talents in 2010. He bucked the company’s rules by becoming a fan favourite and winning top titles while not being very built.
At the 2014 Royal Rumble, Bray Wyatt beat Daniel Bryan in the first bout. The men’s Rumble match was the main event of the show.
Many fans hoped Bryan would participate in the Rumble and win the event. Instead, Batista accepted the slot and won the tournament.
Fans were outraged by WWE’s choice, which turned out to be a tremendous blunder. Bryan moved to social media as people began to express their displeasure with the booking blunder.
After prolonging the plot, WWE was compelled to include Daniel Bryan in the main event of WrestleMania XXX. It turned out to be a good decision in the end.
4. Beth Phoenix eliminating The Great Khali in Men’s Rumble with a k*ss
The Great Khali was previously marketed as a monster star in WWE. Toward the end of his career, he was reduced to a mere comedy act and enhancing skill.
In the 2010 Men’s Royal Rumble, Khali posed a significant danger to CM Punk, who was already in the ring. However, his attention was swiftly diverted when Beth Phoenix arrived immediately behind him.
Beth became the second woman to ever compete in the men’s Rumble, and many fans expected her to demonstrate her strength against the best male stars. Instead, WWE had her remove The Great Khali by kissing him and dragging him over the ropes.
Instead, WWE could have done her a big service by having her overwhelm and defeat Khali. Beth Phoenix was perhaps a larger star than Khali at the time, and she may have benefited from the demonstration of strength.
3. Y2J not winning the 2012 Royal Rumble
Chris Jericho has a vast record of wrestling accomplishments, most of which occurred during his stint with the WWE.
Y2J has only won a few significant matches in his career, including the Royal Rumble. However, he was the odds-on favourite to win in 2012.
Sheamus began the contest at number 22, and few anticipated him to win. However, he eliminated Chris Jericho last to win the challenge, which many viewed as a mistake.
Following the victory, the Celtic Warrior was unable to gain momentum beyond his WrestleMania moment. Jericho could have accomplished much more had he won the Royal Rumble, considering he was at the top of his career.
2. Vince McMahon getting angry at 2005 Royal Rumble
The 2005 Royal Rumble featured one of the worst botched finishes, and the match had to be replayed to determine the true winner.
Batista and John Cena were the last two men standing in the ring as Vince McMahon and the WWE Universe looked on. The two exuberant stars attempted to hurl each other out of the ring and ended up crashing on the floor together.
The referees were divided between who struck the floor first. Meanwhile, Vince McMahon dashed down to the ring and tore his quadriceps while entering.
The contest was resumed, with both men returning to the ring as the final two stars. Finally, Batista defeated Cena to get the golden ticket to Mania.
1. The Rock winning WWE Royal Rumble 2000 with a botch
WWE has produced numerous great superstars throughout the years, but none have matched The Rock’s popularity.
The Great One was a heavy favourite to win the 2000 Royal Rumble, as he was at the height of his fame at the time. He was the only guy left in the ring with The Big Show, and the two brawled over who would earn their WrestleMania dream match.
The Rock was able to reverse the Big Show’s ropes and eliminate the behemoth, but the procedure sparked criticism. He won the challenge, although it was clear that his feet reached the ground first, before the seven-footer was eliminated.
Later in his career, Rock humorously acknowledged that Big Show won the bout due to a mistake, but the script resulted in his winning the WrestleMania main event & a Hollywood career.
