The memories of “The Fiend” will last forever.

The tragic death of Windham Rotunda, better known as WWE superstar Bray Wyatt was taken as a shock by many pro wrestling fans. The wrestling world came together in mourning and celebration of his life. Fans and professional wrestlers from various promotions shared their support for Wyatt’s family and posted their favorite memories of his unique WWE career.

Wyatt’s unforgettable moments span his time in NXT, his tenure on the main roster as the charismatic leader of The Wyatt Family, and his chilling transformation into The Fiend. Despite his release from WWE and subsequent return a year later, Wyatt managed to captivate the audience with one of the most viral comebacks in professional wrestling history.

As we remember Bray Wyatt’s incredible run, here are five standout moments that defined his remarkable WWE career.

5. The Wyatt Family against The Shield

Upon their WWE debut, The Wyatt Family and The Shield were kept apart, but their inevitable clash came at Elimination Chamber 2014. In one of WWE’s best six-man tag matches, Wyatt, Harper, and Rowan defeated Reigns, Rollins, and Ambrose. This pivotal win set Wyatt up for his first main event spotlight at WrestleMania the following month.

4. Bray Wyatt’s debut

The WWE Universe had never seen anything like The Wyatt Family when they debuted in haunting vignettes in the summer of 2013. Luke Harper was the imposing brute, Erick Rowan donned a sheep mask reminiscent of an early 2010s horror flick, and Bray Wyatt, inspired by Cape Fear’s Max Cady and infamous cult leaders, was the smooth-talking prophet determined to influence his flock.

Wyatt wasted no time capturing the attention and imagination of WWE fans, becoming the most buzz-worthy Superstar on the roster. Those vignettes were just the beginning for a Superstar who would shock, awe, captivate, and sometimes confuse, but ultimately leave a legacy of unparalleled creativity.

3. WrestleMania debut against John Cena

Preceded by an extraordinary video package set to Eminem’s “Legacy” and accompanied by a live performance of “Live in Fear” by Mark Crozer, Bray Wyatt made his WrestleMania debut in a significant match against John Cena. This bout was a spectacle of storytelling, where Wyatt tried to push Cena to abandon his heroic persona and turn to the dark side.

Though Cena ultimately triumphed, the match showcased Wyatt’s ability to perform on WWE’s grandest stage. Wyatt’s use of facial expressions and body language throughout the match was pivotal, demonstrating his unique ability to connect with the audience and solidifying his status as a standout performer.

2. The Fiend makes his debut

The emergence of The Fiend at SummerSlam 2019 marked a transformative moment in Bray Wyatt’s career. The former cult leader was replaced by a dual-personality persona: a cheerful Firefly Funhouse host and the terrifying Fiend.

Sporting a mask designed by horror effects master Jason Baker and carrying a lantern resembling his previous persona’s head, The Fiend captivated fans instantly. This innovative character blended horror and wrestling, standing out in a creatively stagnant period for WWE. Wyatt’s commitment to this persona made it his most enduring creation, making him the most intriguing performer in the company for fans of both art forms.

1. Wyatt’s help in making LA Knight the Megastar he is today

There would be no LA Knight as we currently know him without Bray Wyatt. This may seem like a loaded statement, but Wyatt was crucial to Knight’s elevation in late 2022 and early 2023. Their rivalry, involving Uncle Howdy and culminating in the Mountain Dew Pitch Black Match at the Royal Rumble, was pivotal for Knight.

Despite Wyatt’s stature as a three-time world champion, he chose to work with Knight, enhancing his credibility and launching his current success. Wyatt’s last full program gave back to the industry, setting the foundation for Knight to become a breakout star.
