The NFL has introduced a new Christmas tradition. Starting this year, the brand looks to be interested in holding games throughout the Christmas holidays, with a match taking place on Christmas Day coming Wednesday.
For the first time, the NFL has teamed with Netflix as its streaming partner, marking the beginning of their relationship.
While NFL games often overlap with Christmas, this is a first for the NFL, which has consciously attempted to schedule the games on a weekday when viewership is likely to be high. This also marks the first time the games will be available on Netflix.
But also in a surprising move as WWE RAW moves to Netflix, CM Punk will be joining Bert Kreischer & Nate Bargatze at NFL Christmas Gameday live.
So, one thing is for sure before WWE RAW goes to Netflix we will be able to watch the Second City Saint before the red brand goes to the biggest streaming platform.
The NFL and Netflix agreed to a $150 million deal that gives the streaming service the right to show Christmas games for the next three seasons. This year, Netflix will host two Christmas games this season, as well as one Christmas Day game in 2025 and 2026, on Thursday and Friday.
Four teams will compete this Christmas: the Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers, Houston Texans, and Baltimore Ravens. The league allowed each team three days of recuperation, ensuring that they recovered equally.
The live-stream will include two major NFL contests, as well as Mariah Carey at the start and Beyoncé throughout the second half.
The Chiefs and Steelers will face off at 1:00 p.m. ET/PT on Christmas Day. Even before the first hit, Carey will give fans a heartfelt performance. Carey’s performance will be followed by the Voices of Service singing the National Anthem. While Carey received plaudits for her live performances, she ended up pre-recording her rendition of “All I Want for Christmas is You.”
Are you guys excited for NFL Christmas gameday?
