CM Punk talks about his SummerSlam referee & gear ahead of the PLE

CM Punk is all set to make his WWE in-ring return on August 3, 2024, at the SummerSlam premium live event. Punk will finally have his hands on Drew McIntyre on the show, after months of heated rivalry. However what stands in their way is Seth Rollins, who is announced to be the special guest referee for their match.

Rollins got beef with both Punk and Drew McIntyre and it added more drama to the match. Ahead of his WWE in-ring return match next weekend at SummerSlam 2024, Punk reacted to Seth Rollins being the referee of the match and casually took a shot at him.

CM Punk recently made his appearance at the WWE Mattel Elite Panel at the San Diego Comic-Con and answered the fans’ questions. 

During the event, Punk was asked about if they thought of having a special stipulation match for SummerSlam. To which Punk replied that the stipulation is that the “idiot” is the referee. He says that anything more than that could be a hat on a hat on a hat. Punk then said that he was going to punch Drew in the face, as he didn’t care where he was.

CM Punk said

“I mean the stipulation is that ‘the idiot’ is the referee. Anything more is gonna be a hat on a hat on a hat, which sounds something like he would do. I’m just tryna punch Drew in the face. I don’t care where he is at.”

Punk on his SummerSlam gear

Following the event, Punk was interviewed by Ringside Collectibles on what gear he is going to wear for this year’s SummerSlam event, as he wore several variable ring gears in the past. Punk said that the classic CM Punk in WWE is with the kick pads, knee pads and trunks. But that could change in the future, but at SummerSlam, he will be there with the classic trunks.

CM Punk said

“Maybe shorts, I also don’t know. I just think the classic WWE CM Punk is with kick pads, knee pads and trunks. Ang again, I’ll say never say never. It could change in the future. But, right now at SummerSlam, I’ll be in the trunks.”
