CM Punk is set to face Drew McIntyre in a strap match in Germany
CM Punk made his long-awaited in-ring return against Drew McIntyre at the 2024 SummerSlam PLE. The second city saint was so close to having his first win after his WWE return, however, his anger towards Rollins & Drew’s low blow took the match away from him. Drew pinned him to secure the win.
As most of them thought that their rivalry had come to an end, Drew took Punk’s bracelet again and continued the feud. This resulted in a match at Bash in Berlin, where Punk & McIntyre will face each other in a strap match. Ahead of the PLE, Punk sent a message to WWE fans expressing his excitement for the show.
CM Punk’s message to fans
CM Punk on his Instagram posted a story of him making an entrance for a WWE event. Punk then expressed his excitement to travel to Germany. Punk said that he missed out to be a part of Backlash in France earlier this year, due to injury. However, he is grateful to enter Germany to return the favor.
CM Punk wrote, “One of the worst parts about Drew injuring me was missing out on France. Grateful I get to travel to Germany to return the favor.”
Based on the statement, it is clear that the favor Punk looks to return is injuring Drew and taking him out of action. Since it is a strap match, the weapons are legal and we could expect a brutal match between the two.
Punk has been on a long hiatus since Royal Rumble 2024 when Drew attacked Punk and caused a torn triceps. This made Punk take a long hiatus from the in-ring competition, however, he worked on the weekly shows within the shows in the United States.
The injury prevented Punk from appearing in several international events for the in-ring competition. One such big event was Backlash France. Punk however worked as a part of the pre-show panel from the WWE Headquarters, and got stuck in the Headquarters overnight.
Bash in Berlin will be the first international PLE with Punk having his boots up for the in-ring competition. However, Punk appeared on Clash at the Castle PLE in Scotland only to betray Drew.
