John Cena & CM Punk have a long history together!
John Cena is one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. He has been in WWE for more than two decades. Cena is a 16-time World Champion, who is considered as the GOAT. However, Cena moved from WWE to Hollywood to pursue a career in acting. He is now a full-time actor and part-time wrestler. Cena had a full-time run last year but was simultaneously teasing his retirement.
Cena recently made his WWE appearance at Money in the Bank 2024 PLE and announced that he is officially retiring from professional wrestling and WrestleMania 41 could be his last match. As most of them wonder who Cena’s final opponent(s) will be, CM Punk opened up on his desire to face Cena for one last time, before his retirement.
CM Punk wants John Cena before retirement
At the Money in the Bank Post Show Press Conference, CM Punk addressed John Cena’s announcement and said that he met Cena before the Press Meet and told him that he wanted one more match with him.
Punk at Money in the Bank Post Show Press Conference said,
“I told him I’ll be the guy that drags him out of retirement, this retirement that he says he’s gonna adhere to, and this is it, and when the final one happens, that’s gonna be it. Yeah, 15 years, I’ll drag him out of retirement”
Punk continued appreciating him and then said, “I told him, If it’s going to be one more time, we have to do it at least one more time”
Following that, Punk kicked off the 8/7 episode of Monday Night Raw and addressed John Cena’s retirement, remembering the time they spent inside the ring. Punk congratulated him on his retirement and then opened up on his desire to face Cena at least one more time before his in-ring career comes to an end.
CM Punk on Raw said,
“There are a lot of things to cover, but surprisingly, the first thing I want to do is to recognize somebody, who I have shared a lot of hours inside the ring with. Somebody I insulted once very deeply, called him the New York Yankees. Congratulations & thank you to John Cena on your retirement. I don’t know what the future holds, but I wanna lace him up with you at least one more time before you go. Thank you for all you’ve done here.”
