WWE Champion Cody Rhodes achieves this INCREDIBLE milestone in 2024

The American Nightmare defended his title seven times

‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes had one of the best years in his pro wrestling career which began in 2006. Rhodes started the year by winning the men’s Royal Rumble match at the Royal Rumble PLE.

Rhodes then challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 40. Although he failed in his quest for the title at the last WrestleMania this time nothing not even the entire Bloodline.

The American Nightmare finished the story when he conquered Roman Reigns ending his 1316-day title reign in the process. Cody finally achieved what he aimed for and vowed to become a workhorse champion who defends his title regularly.

Rhodes stayed true to his promise as since winning the title in April he has defended it seven times, five of his title defenses came at PLEs. One of the other two defenses came at the Saturday Night Main Event and Friday Night SmackDown.

Cody Rhodes has wrestled 101 matches in 2024

A fan tweet that included male wrestlers who have fought the most times in 2024 was posted recently. Sitting atop the list was Rhodes who had wrestled in a total of 95 matches. Replying to the tweet Cody wrote, “Gotta’ get to 100!” signaling that he aims to reach the century before 2024 ends.

After achieving the milestone, the American Nightmare today replied to the same tweet with a checkmark emoticon, signifying the completion of the goal. Rhodes has officially wrestled in 101 matches this year. In those 101 matches, he has 98 wins and 3 losses with a win percentage of 97%.

These 101 matches included regular programming, PLEs, events as well as live WWE shows. Rhodes’ 100th match came at the WWE Holiday Tour in Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida where he defeated Kevin Owens in a steel cage match the Undisputed WWE title was on the line for the match.

Cody’s last match of 2024 was against Kevin Owens as part of the WWE Holiday Tour on December 30 at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, USA. The American Nightmare emerged victorious once again in the steel cage match where the Undisputed WWE title was on the line.

The Undisputed Champion’s last broadcasted match in 2024 was at Saturday Night’s Main Event which was held at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale. Rhodes successfully defended his title against Owens at the event on December 14.
