Top five contenders for Drew McIntyre's Undisputed title at WWE WrestleMania 42

Drew McIntyre’s title contender is yet to be determined for WrestleMania.

WWE Royal Rumble 2026 PLE kicked off the road to WrestleMania 42. After winning the Men’s Rumble match, Roman Reigns chose to face CM Punk for the World Heavyweight title at the show, leaving current Undisputed WWE Champion Drew McIntyre without a contender at the moment.

So, here are the top five WWE superstars who could face The Scottish Warrior for his title at The Show of Shows.

Jacob Fatu

Jacob Fatu made his return to SmackDown at the start of 2026 and immediately inserted himself in the Undisputed WWE title picture. A scenario could see Fatu earn a title shot against Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 42, which could be a huge push for the rising Samoan star.

Cody Rhodes

Jacob Fatu and Cody Rhodes are the top two contenders in the Undisputed WWE title picture. The American Nightmare could outlast the Samoan Werewolf to get another opportunity at regaining the championship by facing Drew McIntyre in the main event of WrestleMania 42.

Triple threat match

Drew McIntyre has a looming threat of both Jacob Fatu and Cody Rhodes for his World Championship on the road to WrestleMania 42. McIntyre could possibly interfere in a No.1 contender’s match, leading to a triple threat match being made official for the Undisputed WWE title in Las Vegas.

Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn came close to dethroning Drew McIntyre for the Undisputed WWE title at the Royal Rumble 2026 PLE, but he failed. However, the Underdog from the Underground might fight his way to another opportunity by possibly winning the Elimination Chamber and getting a title shot against McIntyre at WrestleMania 42.

Randy Orton

Randy Orton returned to WWE at the start of 2026 and has been involved in the Undisputed WWE title picture since then. While he failed to earn the title shot at Saturday Night’s Main Event and the Royal Rumble event, WWE’s Apex Predator could slither his way to another title shot on the road to WrestleMania 42.
