Creative favorites to win at WWE SummerSlam 2026 reportedly revealed

SummerSlam 2026 is right around the corner as WWE will deliver the go-home show of SmackDown tonight before travelling to Minneapolis for the show this weekend. The two-night spectacle will air on Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2, 2026, at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The Premium Live Event features multiple top names and major title showdowns spread throughout Saturday and Sunday. Before the event this weekend, a new report from Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select has revealed the creative favorites to win in Minneapolis.
CM Punk & Roman Reigns are the creative favorites for SummerSlam
Note: These are the current favorites based on WWE’s existing plans, but as always, creative direction can change at any time, especially with time still remaining before the event.
The outlet notes that as of Thursday, CM Punk is the current favorite to retain the Undisputed title against Cody Rhodes, while Roman Reigns is the creative favorite in the World Heavyweight showdown at SummerSlam against Seth Rollins.
On the other hand, Trick Williams is considered the favorite in his United States title defense against Baron Corbin. Oba Femi and Gunther are the favorites in their respective matches against Brock Lesnar and Nick Aldis.
Furthermore, Chad Gable is the favorite to win the WWE Intercontinental title match against reigning Champion Penta in his hometown.
Additionally, according to one source, the other two matches remain too close to predict. Those are Sami Zayn vs Finn Balor, with the winner earning a shot at the Undisputed WWE title, and the ladder match to crown the Interim Women’s World Champion.
On the latter, Votes have reported earlier that WWE opted against booking Charlotte Flair vs Jade Cargill, as one of them is likely to win the ladder match for the Interim Women’s title at SummerSlam.
When and where will SummerSlam 2026 take place?
The 39th edition will air as a two-night spectacle on Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2, 2026, at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Fans can catch all the action from 6 PM ET/3 PM PT (or 3:30 AM IST on Sunday, August 2, and Monday, August 3, respectively) on Netflix internationally (excluding select markets) and on the ESPN App in the United States.
