Damian Priest is one of the most dominant and powerful professional wrestlers, who has had a pretty impressive run since his debut. He has been playing an important role in the Judgment Day stable and was constantly around the championship spotlight. He started in WWE as the NXT North American Champion, United States Champion, Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champion and the Money in the Bank winner.
Damian Priest lost the Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 40 Night 1, however he successfully cashed-in his Money in the Bank on Night 2 against Drew McIntyre to become the World Heavyweight Champion for the very first time.
Although Priest seems like he is surrounded by the championship spotlight now, his journey was so hard, which he shared during his first interview after becoming the world champion.
Damian Priest’s journey to World Champion
Damain Priest, after winning the World Heavyweight Championship for the first time, appeared for the WrestleMania XL Post Match Press Conference. Where Priest shared his hard journey from being homeless to becoming a world champion.
Priest said that about a decade ago, he was homeless and doubted himself and what he was going to do for life. He worked harder to reach his goal, who once thought of quitting. He says that he is an example that nothing is impossible to achieve.
Damian Priest says,
“About 10 years ago, I was homeless. I’m sitting in front of you as the World Heavyweight Champion in WWE. Nobody thought I would be on this stage. And I even doubted myself. Then I decided one day to the next, just, ‘What am I doing with my life? If this is my dream, you should be the hardest worker for your own dream.’ Because it’s yours, not anyone else’s.”
“I’m the example for people who don’t know or aren’t sure if they can achieve something. If I did it, literally anybody could achieve their stuff. Because like I said, there were points that I had no business being here. You bust your ass and you do everything in a positive way, I truly, truly believe that there’s nothing you can’t achieve. So for anybody that’s not sure of something? Look what I just did at WrestleMania.”
Damian Priest said that he would be a workhorse champion, by having more television matches in his reign. Priest also praised Seth Rollins for making the title more honor. Priest will be defending his World Heavyweight Championship for the first time against Jey Uso, who became the #1 Contender at Raw after WrestleMania 40.
