‘The Scottish Psychopath’ made his WWE return earlier this month
Following his brutal loss at Bad Blood 2024 PLE, Drew McIntyre was absent from WWE programming as he took a long break from in-ring competition.
After a two-month break, McIntyre returned on the 12/03 episode of the Red brand and targeted the OG Bloodline faction. In his return, Drew attacked Jey Uso and Sami Zayn and set his sights on taking out every member of the OG faction.
This attack culminated in a grudge match between Drew and Zayn at last week’s Saturday Night’s Main Event. McIntyre came out on top in the clash at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on December 14.
Shortly after his win against Zayn at SNME, the Scottish star made it clear that he would not rest until he had taken out every member of the OG faction, especially those who helped Roman Reigns in the WarGames match.
Drew McIntyre was involved in a fierce feud with CM Punk
According to WrestleVotes Radio, the Stamford-based promotion views McIntyre as a “significant upper-echelon talent” and the promotion is planning for a huge push for the Scottish star in 2025.
“So with the recent return of Drew McIntyre, we were told from a source that WWE feels as though McIntyre is on the cusp, if not already there, of becoming a quote, significant main event, upper echelon attraction, and they attribute some of this to his work over the last 10 months with CM Punk.“
Reports also suggest that WWE credits McIntyre’s significant rise to his intense, ten-month-long rivalry with CM Punk.
McIntyre had one of the best years in 2024 which saw him capture the World Heavyweight title after defeating Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40. However, he quickly lost the title at the hands of Damian Priest after his win against Rollins as Priest cashed in the MITB contract.
Apart from this, he was involved in a fierce feud against ‘The Second City Saint’ CM Punk. The feud between the two is considered one of the best feuds of 2024 in all of pro wrestling.
“A source states that McIntyre’s viral comments on Busted Open Radio last week were not scripted in any way and that WWE loved the reaction to what went down. We are told McIntyre will be a huge focus as we head into 2025.”
Furthermore, the report states that McIntyre’s emotional segment on Busted Open Radio last week was entirely unscripted. The authentic outpouring reportedly resonated strongly with WWE officials.
Last week, McIntyre sent shockwaves through the wrestling community with a passionate promo on Busted Open Radio, dramatically ending the segment by dropping the mic and exiting the studio.
Do you think McIntyre’s promo on Busted Open Radio is a turning point in his WWE career? Who do you think will be his next target from the OG faction? Share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section.
