Drew McIntyre is one of the biggest stars with some big trilogy rivalries in WWE!
Drew McIntyre is one of the highly talented professional wrestlers on the current WWE roster. The Scottish Warrior has one of the great runs in the company, especially after his return to the company in 2017.
The second run saw a more mature version of McIntyre, who climbed to the top card and had some of the iconic rivalries, which ended in a trilogy of matches in recent years. Here we take a look at the three trilogy matches of Drew McIntyre in WWE in recent years.
3. Championship rivalry with Randy Orton
In 2020, Drew McIntyre was involved in a heated rivalry with Randy Orton, who challenged Drew for the WWE Championship. They had their match at Clash of Champions in an ambulance match with the title on the line, where Drew performed a claymore on Orton into the ambulance and punt-kicked Orton to close the door, with Ric Flair driving the Ambulance to retain the title.
At Hell in a Cell PPV, they had the Hell in a Cell match with the title on the line, where Orton countered McIntyre’s claymore to win the world title for the 14th time.
Weeks later, on the November 16, 2020, episode of Raw, McIntyre claimed his rematch and successfully regained the title, to end the rivalry.
2. Title rivalry with Seth Rollins
At Crown Jewel 2023, Drew McIntyre challenged Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship. However, things didn’t turn out well, as Rollins performed a superkick, pedigree and curb stomp to retain the title.
Rollins declined Drew’s rematch on a number of occasions and finally received the rematch at WWE Raw Day 1. During the match, McIntyre got distracted by Damian Priest, who came out with the MITB briefcase teasing of cashing in. The distraction allowed, Rollins to take advantage and delivered a pedigree on the table and stomped inside the ring to retain the title.
At WrestleMania 40 Night 2, Drew faced Seth Rollins in a singles match, where Rollins was not 100%, after his brutal match the previous night. It was easy for Drew to face Rollins and deliver a couple of Claymore to win the match and the World Heavyweight Championship, to end the trilogy rivalry.
1. Bloodthirsty rivalry with CM Punk
CM Punk and Drew McIntyre had a long-time rivalry since late 2023, however, they had their first match at SummerSlam, with Seth Rollins as the special guest referee. Drew won the match by delivering a low blow and Claymore to win the match.
At Bash in Berlin, they had a rematch in a strap match, where Punk defeated Drew by touching four turnbuckles of the ring to secure an equalizer.
At Bad Blood 2024, they had a Hell in a Cell match, which went brutal as both got busted out and exhausted. After a brutal fight, Punk managed to pin Drew and end the rivalry with a 2-1 lead.
