Drew McIntyre & CM Punk have been feuding for over six months now

Drew McIntyre has frequently likened his pre-WrestleMania XL promo exchange with CM Punk and Seth Rollins to the shooting at the OK Corral. A crossfire of verbal assaults between furious adversaries that wrestling fans will remember for years to come.

After being subjected to a terrible attack that resulted in the shattered beads of his treasured bracelet swishing around in his bloodied mouth, CM Punk called Raw GM Adam Pearce to issue a challenge on his behalf.

Punk was more than prepared to put McIntyre to the test by returning to a structure he hadn’t been inside in over ten years. Drew McIntyre had no desire to fight in that setup again.

This long-running feud is ending despite what happens on Saturday night at WWE Bad Blood. And it is coming to an end in Hell in a Cell.

But, during an exclusive interview with SI, Drew McIntyre uniquely praised CM Punk for how good their storyline has actually gone on to become.

He noted his old Hell in a Cell match, where believed there was no such storyline for two men to go into the hellish cage structure. Drew will freely confess that his match with Bobby Lashley probably did not need to take place inside the cell. It was, however, due to the uniqueness of the Premium Live Event for which it was scheduled.

This time, McIntyre is preparing to dance in the Devil’s playground. McIntyre, desperate to move on from the torturous past ten months of his career, has consented to enter Hell in the Cell for the third time, and he will not be alone. As he goes with CM Punk inside the Hell in a Cell.

McIntyre said, “Everybody’s watched the story unfold. They know we legitimately don’t like each other. They’ve seen how hard we’ve been hitting each other in the couple of matches we’ve had at SummerSlam and the Strap Match. With Hell in the Cell, he knows it and I know it, we’re professional enough to go in there and do our job, but… we’re gonna beat the s— out of each other.”

The former World Heavyweight Champion has pledged to make Punk bleed profusely. He has vowed to leave him beaten and forever scarred. Whether such phrases are exaggerated or not, they are unlikely to take anything away from the eventual finish.

This encounter will deliver because, despite their animosity outside of the ring, Drew McIntyre and CM Punk bring out the best in each other when the camera is rolling.

McIntyre continued, “No matter what I feel about him personally. I know how good he is, especially when it comes to storytelling,” McIntyre said. “I knew there was magic there and it took a simple Future Shock DDT tearing his weak little triceps off the bone to get it going.”

Whether he raises his hand on Saturday or not, McIntyre believes his feud with Punk will never be really finished. However, as this chapter comes to an end, the Scottish Warrior will experience both peculiar and exhilarating feelings.

Knowing how the organization currently runs under the creative supervision of Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque, McIntyre is confident he will be able to pursue the truth in the next story he tells. Even if it may be hard to surpass the work put in over the previous ten months.
