After Chad Gable even El Grande Americano is injured
WWE is dealing with yet another injury blow as reports have now confirmed that Chad Gable is injured and, coincidentally, so is El Grande Americano, the current WWE Speed Champion.
On this week’s episode of RAW, Gable was involved in a backstage segment with Penta. The “American Made” leader confronted Penta, taunting him after a loss to Bron Breakker.
The encounter quickly escalated when Gable attempted to take a swing at the masked luchador, only to fall victim to Penta’s brutal armbreaker finisher, “The Sacrifice.”
Chad Gable written off television after a segment with Penta
According to Bodyslam.net, this was WWE’s method of writing Gable off TV due to a legitimate injury. While it’s not exactly clear when Gable suffered the setback, PWInsider later confirmed that the 39-year-old sustained a shoulder injury and is scheduled to undergo surgery in July.
There’s no official word yet on how long Gable will be sidelined, or whether his absence has disrupted any creative plans WWE had in place.
El Grande Americano also injured in a similar fashion
Interestingly, Fightful Select also reported that El Grande Americano has sustained a nearly identical injury.
“We’ve heard that it was sustained in the same way Gable’s was, but was a total coincidence,” the report stated.
Fans have long speculated that El Grande Americano is a disguised persona of Chad Gable. It is an open secret WWE has never acknowledged. However, with both Gable and Americano reportedly out for the exact same duration, the speculation continues to gain traction.
As of now, there’s no indication whether WWE will vacate the WWE Speed Championship or address Americano’s absence on TV.
For now, it’s a tough blow for Gable, whose in-ring talent often goes underutilized, and for Americano, it is one of WWE’s most entertaining recent gimmicks.
Here’s wishing both Gable and Americano a quick and full recovery. Updates on their return timeline and the fate of the Speed title will be shared once more information is available.
