The 9/24 episode of WWE NXT was the farewell edition of NXT on USA Network
WWE successfully hosted the September 17, 2024 episode of WWE NXT live from Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, Florida, United States. This was the last episode of NXT on USA Network, as the black and gold brand moved to CW Network.
In the farewell show, NXT showcased some of the interesting matches and segments setting the stage for the CW premiere. Get to know what happened on WWE NXT this week, as we came out with a detailed summary of everything that happened on the show.
NXT Women’s North American Championship Match- Kelani Jordan (C) vs Wren Sinclair
In the opening contest, Kelani Jordan defended her WWE NXT Women’s North American Championship on the line against Wren Sinclair with NQCC in her corner. The match went swinging both sides with Sinclair targeting Jordan’s ribs and accidentally taking every member of NQCC out with a crossbody. Jordan used it as an advantage and delivered a split-legged moonsault to pick up the win and retain the WWE NXT Women’s North American Championship.
Backstage
Ethan Page was interviewed about the WWE NXT Championship match against Trick Williams. He differentiated himself from the rest of the roster for being resilient. He is confident about defeating Trick and says that CM Punk is not a factor at all in the match.
Back after the commercial, CM Punk met Je’Von Evans and had a chit-chat. Trick Williams met Punk and thanked him for stepping in, as Page won’t be handing business clean. Punk said that Trick deserves a fair match and said that the best man wins.
Grayson Waller Effect
Grayson Waller & Austin Theory called out the NXT Tag Team Champions Axiom & Nathan Frazer to the ring for an interview before their match. Both yelled at each other and Waller teased splitting Axiom & Nathan Frazer after losing the title, however, Frazer asked why the Grayson Waller effect doesn’t have Austin Theory’s name in it and it triggered Theory. Before Theory explodes, Waller punches Frazer and starts a brawl. The challengers attacked the champions to end the segment.
Good Brothers vs Hank & Tank
Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows faced Hanl Walker and Tank Ledger yet again in a tag team match. The match swung both sides with each team taking brief control. In the final moments, Anderson delivered a couple of spinning spinebusters to tag Gallows, however Ledger and Walker with a pounce pinned Gallows for the win.
Backstage- Je’Von Evans, Cedric Alexander & A-Town Down Under
A-Town Down Under met Je’Von Evans and Cedric Alexander mocking Evans that he won’t be winning against Randy Orton on October 8th. Evans mocked them by saying Kevin Owens’s name, which resulted in a tag team match later the same night.
Lexis King vs Oro Mensah
Lexis King faced Oro Mensah in a singles match and both chopped each other off and countered each other’s moves. In the final moments of the match, Mensah delivered a folding press on the ropes to win the match.
Ridge Holland vs Riley Osborne
Ridge Holland faced Riley Osborne of Chase University in a singles match. Osborne was fired up in the initial stage of the match and Ridge used his power to counter his moves. Riley tried to end Holland to take revenge, however Holland delivered a DDT to win the match. After the match, Holland attacked Riley, but Riley fought back.
Wes Lee & Zachary Wentz
Wes Lee and Zachary Wentz appeared on a video call for a promo and both trash-talked on each other. Lee mentioned Wentz’s fiance’s name and he asked him to stop telling his fiance’s name. Which made Wentz attack Lee and the security put them off.
Brinley Reece & Karmen Petrovic vs Rosemary & Wendy Choo
Wendy Choo and Rosemary faced Brinley Reece and Karmen Petrovic in a tag team match. During the match, Petrovic was distracted by Ashante outside the ring. Which made Rosemary deliver a slam to win the match.
A-Town Down Under vs Cedric Alexander & Je’Von Evans
Austin Theory and Grayson Waller faced Je’von Evans and Cedric Alexander in a tag team match. The match went to and fro with Alexander and Evans had major control. In the final moments, Fraxiom interfered during the match, the distraction caused Evans momentum, which made Theory deliver A-Town Down Under on Evans to pin him.
Trick Williams Press Meet
Trick Williams addressed the press conference questions about his match and said that he wishes to kick off the new era by becoming the two-time NXT Champion.
Roxanne Perez & Giulia Press Conference / Stephanie Vaquer’s statement
In the middle of the ring, Byron Saxton organized a press conference with Roxanne Perez & Giulia. Giulia claimed himself as Roxanne’s successor and said that Perez’s time was up. Roxanne said that she watches all of Giulia’s matches and knows who she is, but she never stepped in against Perez, as she has no idea about what she is capable of. When both argue, a Spanish voice interferes, which is revealed to be Stephanie Vaquer, who appears on the big screen and says that she will be waiting on the other side for the title.
