Netflix’s debut of Raw is less than four weeks away

WWE held a special Raw on Netflix kick-off event at their Stamford headquarters. The event was live-streamed on their official YouTube channel.

The promotion marked a significant milestone with a special Raw on Netflix Kickoff event, signaling the show’s historic transition from traditional television to Netflix in 2025. The flagship program is slated to make its Netflix debut on January 6, 2025, with a live broadcast from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California.

Here we take a look at everything that happened at the kick-off event which featured CM Punk, Seth “Freakin” Rollins, Rhea Ripley, Liv Morgan, Solo Sikoa, Logan Paul, and more Superstar.

Logan Paul joins the Red brand

Former United States Champion Logan Paul made an appearance at the kick-off show as General Manager Adam Pearce announced him as the newest member of the Raw roster.

Paul has been absent from WWE programming since his last match against LA Knight at SummerSlam 2024. Knight defeated Paul at SummerSlam PLE to win the United States title.

The former US Champion put the division on notice and stated his intentions to capture the World title. He also targeted the fandom and declared that their approval meant nothing to him because they were still watching him.

“I am a bully and the WWE is my playground, I’m not here to take part. I’m here to take over. Your approval means nothing to me… I don’t care, because you’re still watching and you will stay watching, because you are spectator and I am a star. I promise everyone in the crowd right now, everyone watching at home. You are looking at the future WWE World Champion, and his name is Logan Paul.” The former US champion stated.

Liv Morgan vs Rhea Ripley

An epic showdown between two fierce rivals was also announced on the kick-off show as months of bad blood will culminate at the Intuit Dome. Liv Morgan will defend her Women’s World title against Rhea Ripley in the debut episode.

The two had a heated exchange on the microphone followed by a fierce face-off ahead of their clash. Ripley scored the last pinfall in their last meeting at Survivor Series 2024 PLE. Team Ripley defeated Team Morgan in the women’s WarGames match.

Kevin Owens appears with the Winged Eagle WWE Championship

‘The Prizefighter’ Kevin Owens invaded the Stamford headquarters during the event and continued to mock the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.

Owens attacked Rhodes after their match at SNME last week and landed a devastating package piledriver. The champion was stretchered out of the arena following the vicious attack.

Owens showed up to the event with the Winged Eagle WWE Championship and claimed that he is the ‘true champion’. KO also expressed his frustration that ‘a true WWE Champion’ has to sneak into the event because he wasn’t invited. He was later removed from the venue by WWE security.

Paul Heyman cuts a promo

‘The Wiseman’ Paul Heyman appeared during the show interrupting Solo Sikoa‘s Bloodline. Sikoa addressed the crowd at the headquarters and demanded them to acknowledge him.

Heyman appeared during the segment cutting a promo and setting the stage for the high-stakes clash between Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa. The Wiseman revealed that the Tribal Combat bout is about “who is the real Tribal Chief.”

Reigns and Sikoa will lock horns in the debut show on January 6 in a Tribal Combat match with the Ula Fala on the line.

Gunther to remain the face of Raw on Netflix

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther also made an appearance during the kick-off as Michael Cole announced that The Ring General would remain as the face of the Red brand after the move.

“He’s going to be the face of this program on Netflix, he is our World Heavyweight Champion, GUNTHER!” Cole stated. Michael Cole was joined by WWE’s COO Triple H and General Manager Adam Pearce during the announcement.

The Ring General recently defended his title in a triple threat match against Finn Balor and Damian Priet last week at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Gunther responds to Logan Paul

The Ring General responded to Logan Paul’s comments earlier during the kick-off show and vowed to ‘slap that stupid smirk’ off Paul’s face. Gunther acknowledged that Paul is a talented individual but claimed that being a ‘World Champion’ is not possible for Paul.

Well, he’s obviously a very talented man. Athletically, but also in the entertainment world. He’s the jack of all trades, as they say. But I don’t believe World Heavyweight Champion is one of them. That being said, I think my English is pretty good by now, but I’ll make it even simpler. If Logan Paul thinks he can walk in here and take this away from me, if he ever makes it to the top of the line to challenge me for the World Heavyweight Championship, it will be my duty and my pleasure to slap that stupid smirk out of his face.” Gunther said.

CM Punk & Seth Rollins face off

In the final moments of the kick-off show, ‘The Second City Saint’ CM Punk greeted the fans with his presence. Punk was immediately asked by Michael Cole about the favor that he asked Paul Heyman.

The Second City Saint then recapped his amazing journey after his return in last year and reflected on the importance of the move of the Red brand on the streaming giant.

‘The Visionary’ Seth Rollins was the final man to make the walk in the kick-off show as he came face to face with CM Punk. The two immediately started exchanging heated words which turned into a shoving contest. Triple H and Adam Pearce stepped in to diffuse the situation as Cole bid farewell to the fans.

As part of the Raw on Netflix launch, WWE also introduced a sleek new microphone design, accompanied by the new Raw logo. Michael Cole made a stylish entrance, debuting with the circular-shaped microphone, marking a new era for WWE’s flagship show.
