Ever since Cody Rhodes made his return to WWE, he has been teasing that he will finish his story by becoming the World Champion, the title his father couldn’t win. Last year at WrestleMania 39, Cody got a shot at the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship after winning the Royal Rumble but came up short after The Bloodline involvement.
Cody then didn’t receive the rematch for the title and went on facing a lot of hurdles. Cody however managed to win the 2024 Royal Rumble and got his chance to finish the story one more time. Cody Rhodes went through a lot of high-drama and finally clinched his opportunity to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
This is being the most talked about pro-wrestling storyline with Cody getting huge support from the WWE Universe. However a former WWE star took shots on Cody Rhodes’ story.
Dolph Ziggler on Cody Rhodes’ story
Nick Nemeth (fka Dolph Ziggler) recently appeared for an interview on Busted Open Radio podcast, where the Most Wanted Man took shots on Cody Rhodes’ story. Dolph Ziggler initially appreciated the two-year storyline and his aspirations to become the world champion, but states that winning the title, because his father couldn’t do it, felt funny for him. He stated that anyone who doesn’t have a legacy in the business also has a similar story.
Dolph Ziggler said,
“I appreciate this two-year story, I really do, I just think it’s so funny that finishing the story isn’t like the end of the storyline, it’s like ‘No, he has to win cause his dad wasn’t champion.’ That’s the story, Has it? Everybody else who wasn’t a legacy in the business had to go through a bunch of stuff too.”
Ziggler continued asking LaGreca, does Cody Rhodes come to wrestling on his own merits? Which made him pause and laughs.
