Fact Check: Did Babar Azam receive a WWE Title from Roman Reigns, John Cena & The Big Show at BBL?

The Pakistani cricketer is currently playing in the Big Bash League in Australia.

An image circulating on social media has caught the attention of WWE fans, as a viral image shows Pakistani Cricketing star Babar Azam along with John Cena, Roman Reigns, and The Big Show, aka Paul Wight.

In the image, Azam is being awarded the WWE Championship belt by Cena, Reigns, and Wight. Azam can be seen in the Sydney Sixers jersey as the Big Bash League is currently underway.

The Big Bash League (BBL) is Australia’s premier professional Twenty20 (T20) cricket competition. Launched in 2011 by Cricket Australia, the league consists of eight city-based teams and takes place each year from December through February.

Azam is playing for the Sydney Sixers in the current Big Bash League season. He signed with the Sixers as their international recruit for the 2025–26 season.

The Truth behind the viral image

The image shared by the X user was captioned, “Babar Azam with Roman Reigns, Big Show, and John Cena,”  suggesting a dramatic crossover between cricket and pro-wrestling.

Well, in reality, the involvement of four major names, particularly in the Indian subcontinent, where both professional wrestling and cricket enjoy massive popularity, would have been impossible to ignore and widely reported by mainstream media.

There is no verifiable proof that Azam was ever presented with the Undisputed title during the Big Bash League. Neither the BBL itself, participating teams, WWE, Cricket Australia, nor any reputable sports media outlet has issued confirmation of such an event.

Additionally, the image contains obvious signs of digital manipulation, such as uneven lighting, warped hand positioning, inconsistent shadows, highlights, and unnatural visual blending between individuals.

In fact, the user who originally shared the image later acknowledged that it was AI-generated after it went viral and urged viewers not to take it seriously, stating, “The picture is AI-generated and for fun purposes only. Don’t take it seriously.”

Additionally, while Cena officially hung up his wrestling boots in December, a return, even in an Ambassador role, would dominate headlines worldwide. On the other hand, The Big Show is currently under contract with AEW (WWE’s rival promotion); his last appearance for the Stamford-based promotion was in early 2021.

Is the image of Babar Azam with John Cena, Roman Reigns, and The Big Show real?

No, the image of Pakistani cricketing icon Babar Azam being presented the WWE title by John Cena, Roman Reigns, and The Big Show is not real; it is AI-generated.
