In a post on social media, Steele revealed that she has been released by WWE after competing in an Olympic wrestling competition during a weekend when she was not scheduled to work for the company.
According to her tweet, she captured the gold medal at the event and earned a $350,000 prize, but was informed of her release the following Monday. She also noted that she was slated for a move to the Monday Night Raw brand before the release.
“On a weekend off working for WWE, I went back to Olympic wrestling, won gold at Worlds, prize purse was $350,000,” Steele wrote. “Tried to go back to WWE that Monday. They moved me up to Raw, just to tell me they had to let me go because I went behind their back. So was this a DREAM or NIGHTMARE?”
