Tonight’s episode of SmackDown will emanate from Grand Rapids, Michigan!

The July 20 episode of Friday Night SmackDown will air live from the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The show will continue to build towards the Night of Champions 2025, with two semi-finals in the King and Queen of the Ring tournament.

Additionally, the promotion has also announced a singles clash between the current Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena and R-Truth. The two stars recently battled at the May 24 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Cena picked up the win in the last encounter, but this time around, the mood is different as Truth is not just looking for a win but wants the respect of his peers, who only think of him as a laughing stock. Ahead of the clash, let us take a look at the top three possible finishes for the clash.

3. Ron Killings defeats the 17-time World Champion

While in their meeting at Saturday Night’s Main Event, Truth’s disillusionment with Cena shattered as his childhood hero not only landed a low blow to win the match but then smacked him in the head with the title even after pinning Truth.

However, this time around, Truth is not just serious but also wants respect. Tired of being treated a laughing stock, he will likely be aware and ready for Cena’s dirty tactics. Additionally, Cena is set to defend the title against CM Punk next week at Night of Champions, and the promotion is known to put the winner of a big match in a losing situation, causing fans to question whether the star will or will not win.

2. CM Punk interferes

‘The Second City Saint’ CM Punk made a surprising appearance on last week’s show, confronting Cena ahead of their title clash. However, the confrontation ended in Truth attacking Cena for the second time and locking in the STF as Punk rubbed salt in Cena’s wounds.

The Second City Saint will likely be backstage on tonight’s show on WWE SmackDown, and helping Truth win the match would also mean humiliation for Cena ahead of the title clash, which would be a positive thing for Punk.

1. John Cena wins again

The Undisputed Champion has not suffered defeat in singles matches since his return, the only losses on his 2025 record are during the men’s Royal Rumble match as well as the tag team match against Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso at Money in the Bank 2025.

Cena will likely continue his undefeated streak, pinning Truth at the Van Andel Arena. However, the match itself has to deliver, otherwise it would diminish Truth’s new character arc as he is trying to steer away from his old self.
