Finn Balor is one of the biggest stars in WWE’s modern era
Finn Balor is one of the highly talented Irish professional wrestlers, who possesses great in-ring skills, athleticism and a charismatic personality. Balor is widely popular even before his WWE run, as he is the founder of one of the most popular pro-wrestling factions “Bullet Club”. Balor has one of the underrated careers in WWE, however, he is the 17th Grand Slam Champion of the company.
Finn Balor’s Championship reigns in WWE
Finn Balor is an eleven-time champion in WWE, where he held the NXT Championship twice, the Universal Championship once, the Intercontinental Championship twice, the United States Championship once, the World/Raw Tag Team Championship thrice and SmackDown Tag Team Championship twice. Here is a brief view of all of his title reigns in WWE.
NXT Championship (2)
In July 2015 at The Beast in the East live event in Tokyo, Japan, Finn Balor defeated Kevin Owens to win the NXT Championship for the very first time. This is also the first title win of Finn Balor in WWE. Balor held the title for 292 days (which was the longest reign at the time) and lost the title to Samoan Joe in the NXT Live event in Lowell, Massachusetts.
In September 2020 on his second run in NXT, Balor participated in the 60-minute Fatal 4-Way Iron Match for the vacated NXT Championship against Adam Cole, Tommaso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano, where Balor and Cole ended in a tie. In a rematch between the two Balor defeated Cole to win the NXT Championship for the second time.
Universal Championship (1)
In 2016 Finn Balor was called for the main roster of Raw as a part of the 2016 Superstar Shakeup. Balor was given the push right away. He participated in the Inaugural Universal Championship Tournament and became the first-ever Universal Champion by defeating Seth Rollins in the finals at SummerSlam. It is the first-ever championship win for Finn in the main roster, however, he vacated the title due to a shoulder injury within 24 hours.
Intercontinental Championship (2)
In February 2019 at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, Finn Balor defeated Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush in a 2-on-1 Handicap match by pinning Lio Rush to become the Intercontinental Champion for the first time. Balor held the title for 22 days, however, dropped the title back to Bobby Lashley on Raw.
In April 2019 at WrestleMania 35, ‘The Demon’ Finn Balor defeated Bobby Lashley to win the Intercontinental Championship for the second time. Balor held the title for 98 days and lost to Shinsuke Nakamura at the Kickoff Show of the 2019 Extreme Rules PPV.
United States Championship (1)
On the February 28, 2022 episode of Raw, Balor defeated Damian Priest and won the United States Championship for the first time. He held the title for 48 days and lost his championship to Austin Theory.
Tag Team Championship (World / Raw Tag Team Title- 3, SmackDown Tag Team Title- 2)
In September 2023 at the Payback PLE, Finn Balor teamed up with Damian Priest and defeated Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn in a Street Fight to win both Raw and SmackDown Championships combined known as the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship. They held the title for 35 days and lost to Cody Rhodes & Jey Uso at Fastlane 2023.
However, Priest & Balor challenged them for a rematch on Raw a week later and won the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships back from them. They held the title for 173 days and lost the title at WrestleMania 40 Night 1 in a Six-Pack Ladder match splitting the title into two.
On the June 24, 2024 episode of Raw, Finn Balor and JD McDonagh defeated Awesome Truth to win the World Tag Team Championship (fka Raw Tag Team Championship) and they are the reigning champions with 1+ days reign.
