Here are some of the potential WWE stars who could retire John Cena at WrestleMania 41
John Cena is one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. He has been part of WWE for more than two decades now. Cena is a 16-time World Champion, who is considered the GOAT in WWE. However, Cena moved from WWE to Hollywood to pursue a career in acting. He is now a full-time actor and part-time wrestler. Cena had a full-time run last year but was simultaneously teasing his retirement.
Cena recently made his WWE appearance at Money in the Bank 2024 PLE, where he announced his retirement timeline. Cena said that he will work for the first episode of Raw on Netflix, Royal Rumble 2025, Elimination Chamber 2025 and WrestleMania 41. He announced that his last match will be at WrestleMania 41. As John Cena opened up on his retirement date, here we take a look at some of the potential final opponents for his retirement match.
5. Sami Zayn
John Cena is one of the most successful stars in the company and held a total of 25 championships in WWE. However, he isn’t a Grand Slam Champion yet, as Cena has never won the Intercontinental Championship in his 22-year-long career. Cena can challenge Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship, to retire as a Grand Slam Champion. There could not be anything better than having a Grand Slam retirement on the Grandest Stage of them all.
4. Solo Sikoa
John Cena and Solo Sikoa have had an unfinished business to settle since last summer when Solo Sikoa brutally Samoan Spiked Cena at Crown Jewel pay-per-view. Cena returned to attack Solo Sikoa at WrestleMania 40 in the main event. Since Cena didn’t get the proper closure in the feud, this could be one of the potential matches. At the same time, Solo retiring Cena could eventually make him a bigger heel in the company.
3. Cody Rhodes
John Cena can wrestle Cody Rhodes in his final match to pass the torch to the next generation. Cena was the face of the company for a very long time and has the greatest fan base in the company. Similarly, Cody has been having a growing fan base and is being backed by the WWE Universe in every city possible. As WWE fans play a major role in both their careers to be the face of the company, Cena could pass the torch to Rhodes, by wrestling him in his final retirement match.
2. CM Punk
CM Punk at the Money in the Bank Post Show Press Conference spoke about his relationship with John Cena and opened up on his desire to face Cena for one last time. Punk and Cena have some great history together, as Punk was the first person to make the WWE fans turn on Cena during their feud in 2011. It could be a great retirement match for Cena if he faces Punk at WrestleMania 41.
1. Randy Orton
John Cena & Randy Orton are two of the best friends and better rivals in the pro-wrestling industry over the years. Orton in his previous interview said that he wished to fight Cena one more time for the world championship to overcome Cena’s title reign. As that being said, Orton can be Cena’s final opponent, as we are soon going to say goodbye to Cena. So, there is a high chance for this match, as there is no better one than Orton to retire Cena.
