The charges stemmed from an incident in 2023.
Former Lucha Libre AAA star El Cuatrero (Rogelio Reyes) has been found guilty of charges against his ex-girlfriend, former WWE Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer. Cuartrero was found guilty of family violence and attempted feminicide.
This, according to Mexican crime journalist Antonio Nieto, who reported the conviction via his X (Twitter) handle. Nieto reported that a Mexico City Judge found the former AAA star guilty after a legal process lasting more than three years.
The sentencing is set for Tuesday, May 12, 2026, when the court will hold an audiencia de individualización de la pena to determine the length of the prison term.
The case stems from a March 2, 2023, incident at Vaquer’s apartment in Mexico City’s Cuauhtémoc borough. At the time, Vaquer was in a relationship with Reyes and competing for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (a pro wrestling promotion based in Mexico City), and told authorities he tried to strangle her.
She formally filed a complaint days later and provided photos showing marks on her neck. Prosecutors initially treated the matter as domestic violence, but the Fiscalía Especializada para la Investigación de Delitos de Feminicidio later upgraded the charge to attempted feminicide and continued the case under that classification.
El Cuatrero was released from preventive detention in 2025
El Cuatrero remained in preventive detention for close to two years before securing his release through an amparo on March 7, 2025.
Shortly after the release, Vaquer spoke out about it on International Women’s Day through her IG Stories, posting in both Spanish and English that although he remains free, she is alive and will continue fighting for truth and justice to the very end.
“Él sigue libre, pero yo sigo viva y seguiré peleando por la verdad y la justicia hasta el final” (“He is still free, but I am still alive and I will keep fighting for truth and justice until the end”).

The former AAA star made his in-ring return in March 2026 on an independent circuit in Mexico. This appearance marked his first match since the arrest.
On the other hand, Vaquer left CMLL in July 2024 and signed with WWE, capturing the Women’s World title last year, becoming the first Chilean and South American woman to win a World title in WWE. Vaquer held the title for 210 days before dropping it to Liv Morgan at WrestleMania 42.
Stephanie Vaquer is currently sidelined due to injury

Vaquer was recently written off Television after an attack by Liv Morgan and the rest of the Judgment Day. Per Fightful Select, the former Women’s World Champion is expected to be sidelined for the foreseeable future, with no confirmed timeline for her return.
There is also some hope that she could make her return in time for WWE SummerSlam 2026, which is set to take place as a two-night spectacle on August 1st and 2nd at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, though nothing is guaranteed at this stage.
