Even after multiple title wins, this WWE star has remained a heel.
Multiple big names in pro-wrestling have turned to the other side once in their career, even John Cena, a poster boy for babyfaces, turned heel during his retirement tour. However, there is one superstar who has remained a heel not just in WWE but since making his pro-wrestling debut.
Unfazed by the constant boos from the crowd, this star has fully embraced the hatred directed at him, heat that has only grown stronger after he retired three veterans. The man in question is none other than ‘The Ring General’ Gunther.
Gunther has remained a heel since his debut

Gunther has established himself as a bona fide heel with his antics, antagonizing fans. He took it up a notch after retiring Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles, all in the span of less than a year, making fans despise him even more. The Ring General even dubbed himself the ‘Career Killer’ and enjoyed all the boos aimed at him.
Notably, Gunther debuted in 2005 with the IWA Switzerland promotion and made his debut in WWE in 2019 with the NXT brand, before being promoted to the main roster.
In WWE, Gunther‘s reign as the NXT United Kingdom, Intercontinental, and the World Heavyweight Champion solidified him as a force to be reckoned with.
However, despite all the highs and lows, the Ring General has never turned heel in his entire pro-wrestling career, which now spans over two decades. The heel persona perfectly complements his dominant and authoritarian character, allowing him to thrive almost exclusively as a heel.
What’s next for The Ring General?
After retiring AJ Styles, Gunther had a brief feud with Dragon Lee, which ended in him putting Lee to sleep, before unmasking him. While an earlier report suggested him battling names like Brock Lesnar and even Rey Mysterio.
However, there seems to be no concrete plans for him leading into WrestleMania 42, which is concerning. After retiring Styles, sporadic appearances could not only stall his career momentum but also diminish the impact of his dominance.
Has Gunther never turned face in his entire career?
No, Gunther has remained a heel since his debut in 2005.
When did Gunther join WWE?
The Ring General kicked off his WWE career in 2019 with the NXT brand, before being promoted to the main roster.
