Goldberg will have his retirement match by the end of 2025
Goldberg is getting ready to step back in the WWE ring one last time. That’s right, the Hall of Famer has confirmed that he’s officially training for his long-awaited retirement match, and it’s set to happen before the end of 2025.
Speaking to My San Antonio, Goldberg said, “I am training for my retirement match with the WWE, [to be] held at some point prior to the end of 2025. I do not know who, when, or where I’m wrestling.”
We don’t have all the details yet, but it’s happening and that’s more than enough to get fans buzzing. The last time we saw Goldberg in a WWE match was back in September 2022, when he faced Roman Reigns in Saudi Arabia.
He’s since admitted that he wasn’t in great shape for that match, and only agreed to it because Vince McMahon had promised him a proper farewell down the line. That promise never came true during Vince’s time in charge, but now, with Triple H running things, it looks like Goldberg will finally get the send-off he deserves.
And don’t think he’s coasting into retirement. Da Man has been putting in the work, training at Black Diamond Martial Arts and even working with former UFC fighter Brendan O’Reilly. He’s taking this match seriously, and he wants to go out strong.
So, who’s next? That’s the million-dollar question. Two names have quickly become fan favorites for Goldberg’s final opponent: Bron Breakker and Gunther.
Bron Breakker is a natural choice. He’s explosive, has a spear that’s drawn comparisons to Da Man, and comes from wrestling royalty as the son of Rick Steiner. There’s history there, and a match between the two would feel like a true passing-of-the-torch moment.
Then there’s Gunther. The Ring General already had a heated moment with Goldberg on Raw last year, even taking digs at Goldberg’s parenting. That tension never turned into a full-blown feud, but the seeds were definitely planted. Plus, Gunther has a reputation for dragging amazing matches out of everyone and that’s exactly what Goldberg would want for his final bow.
Word is that Goldberg might make an announcement in May about who his opponent will be. Until then, one thing’s for sure: the countdown to Da Man’s final match has begun.
