This was a huge marquee match for WrestleMania 41
WWE is only days away from producing the Grandest Stage of Them All, WrestleMania 41. The Showcase of the Immortals is set to take over the Allegiant Stadium on April 19 and 20 in Las Vegas. Among the highly anticipated matches announced for both nights of the grand show, one important match is between formidable rivals, Gunther and Jey Uso.
The duo had been colliding for almost a year. However, this time the stakes are higher than ever. Jey Uso outlasted 29 other WWE superstars in the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble to secure a World Championship at WrestleMania 41. Weeks later, the YEET man chose Gunther as his opponent for WrestleMania, setting the stage for yet another encounter between the rivals.
Until the final RAW before WrestleMania 41, Gunther seemed to have gained the upper hand on Jey Uso, tormenting him physically and mentally. Looking at the head-to-head records in WWE, The Ring General is again ahead, looking to put Uso at a major disadvantage.
Head-to-Head record
Sno | Event | Stipulation | Winner |
1 | WWE Raw (February 19, 2024) | WWE Intercontinental title match | Gunther |
2 | WWE Raw (May 20, 2024) | King of the Ring Semi-final match | Gunther |
3 | WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event (January 25, 2025) | World Heavyweight title match | Gunther |
4 | WWE WrestleMania 41 | World Heavyweight title match | Jey Uso |
The first-ever singles encounter between Gunther and Jey Uso took place on Monday Night Raw in February 2024. This match was for The Ring General’s WWE Intercontinental title, and Jey Uso almost had the match won. That was until his brother, Jimmy Uso, interfered and cost Jey the match, setting up their feud further for a match at WrestleMania 40.
The second match between the formidable rivals took place once again on RAW. This time, it was in the semi-final round of the King of the Ring tournament. Gunther again outlasted Uso and went on to win the entire tournament, which further helped him in becoming the new World Heavyweight Champion at SummerSlam.
The last time Gunther battled Jey Uso was one week before Uso won the 2025 Royal Rumble match. This was at the second edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event since the event was resurrected with Gunther’s World title on the line. Despite Jey’s best efforts, he failed to dethrone him and had his third consecutive loss at the hands of the Ring General.
