Tama Tonga had to pay a fine recently.

MFT’s Tama Tonga recently made headlines following a social media post, which went viral among fans but landed him in hot water with WWE.

Ahead of last week’s March 20 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Tonga took to social media, sharing a 360-degree shot of the arena, where the entrance ramp, ring, WWE personnel, and multiple stars, including Solo Sikoa and Sami Zayn.

Tama Tonga was fined for filming during rehearsals

The clip was from the rehearsals before the show, and later, Andrew Zarian of Fightful revealed that Tonga was fined a “significant fine” for the post. The fine was due to WWE’s unwritten rule of not filming during rehearsals.

Fightful Select now reports that Tonga was fined an amount in the five-figure range, estimated to be between $10,000 and $99,999.

Many fans have criticized WWE for perceived double standards, noting that shows like WWE Unreal and widespread social media coverage from official handles have already pulled back the curtain on the company’s inner workings.

Fans also questioned the decision, pointing out that the video didn’t reveal anything significant. Others noted that sharing rehearsal footage could risk spoiling planned segments, matches, or even outcomes before the show.

Earlier in 2026, Tonga had in fact spoiled a surprise, while posting a clip of himself at a shisha bar ahead of the Royal Rumble, unintentionally revealing Mr. Iguana, who was set to be a surprise entrant in the men’s Rumble match.

Things also didn’t go Tama’s way on the show as he, alongside JC Mateo, suffered defeat against the team of R-Truth and Damian Priest, losing the WWE Tag Team titles.

After losing the title, Tonga had a brief argument with MFT’s leader, Solo Sikoa, who was furious with them over the title loss. However, Tonga asked Solo to give Wyatt Sick’s lantern back to them, as Solo had stated to sound like Roman Reigns.

The mention of Reigns made many fans take notice and speculate if a split between the two is being teased by WWE. Notably, the lantern was stolen by the MFTs in their feud with Wyatt Sicks, and Solo has been hell-bent on keeping the lantern by any means necessary.
