Goldberg’s official retirement match will take place in 2025

WCW legend, Bill Goldberg is officially set to retire from professional wrestling in 2025. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018 and his last WWE appearance was the Bad Blood 2024 PLE.

However, his last in-ring appearance in the promotion was in 2022, at the Elimination Chamber 2022 where he lost to ‘The OTC’ Roman Reigns.

The WWE Hall of Famer had revealed that former WWE boss Vince McMahon promised him a retirement match and a proper send-off. However, he never got any such match till now.

During an appearance on the SEC Network, the WWE Hall of Famer revealed that his official retirement match will take place in 2025.

He explained, “Here’s the deal: the big news is that according to three executives—Nick Khan, Chris Legentil, and Paul Levesque—Goldberg will have his retirement match in 2025!”

In recent times, since the exit of McMahon, there have been some changes as WWE legend Triple H is now in charge. This change has led to developments regarding Goldberg‘s retirement match.

Goldberg could face IC Champion Bron Breakker

The promotion could book the Hall of Famer against a fellow brawler in Bron Breakker. Breakker is the current Intercontinental Champion which he won after defeating ‘Main Event’ Jey Uso last month.

The promotion could plan the legend’s return in the 2025 Royal Rumble Match and have the IC Champion Breakker eliminate him. The two could also have a face-off and a short exchange of jabs during the match to build up the storyline.

The feud between the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and Goldberg already kicked off during the Bad Blood 2024 PLE. This makes it an easier option in a singles competition to book for the legend.

At the Bad Blood PLE, the Heavyweight Champion called out the Hall of Famer, who was in the audience and insulted his family. This provoked Goldberg to jump the barricade, though he was quickly stopped before things could get physical.

Gunther would be one of the better choices to book against the WWE legend, a potential between the two could happen at Elimination Chamber 2025 which is scheduled for March 2025.

Gunther’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship could also be on the line which would add even more prestige to the grudge match. The two stars colliding to settle their feud promises a great experience for fans.

The Hall of Famer should lose the match against Gunther at Elimination Chamber which would set up a match against Breakker at WrestleMania 41.

The promotion could also build the storyline further by making Goldberg interfere in Breakker’s title defense during WWE Europe tour. This interference ahead of the biggest event could cost Breakker his Intercontinental Championship deepening the storyline which would culminate in a grudge match.

A match between the two physical specimens at WrestleMania 41 would be a huge spectacle. The storyline build-up would help create hype for the fight and would be a huge send-off for the legend.

The 2025 edition of WrestleMania is a two-day event that is scheduled to take place on April 19th and 20th in Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
