How can WWE involve Seth Rollins in Drew McIntyre vs CM Punk match at SummerSlam 2024?

CM Punk, Drew McIntyre & Seth Rollins have been teasing a triangular feud for a long time!

CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre is one of the most anticipated matches, which is expected to happen at the upcoming SummerSlam 2024 PLE. Punk is expected to clear himself to compete at the PLE, however Drew McIntyre got suspended for attacking the officials. In the meantime, Seth Rollins teased a feud with Punk and said that he would step in to fight Punk, before McIntyre.

At this stage, Drew appeared on Raw earlier this week, and the potential match between Punk and McIntyre was teased, but his suspension status remained unchanged due to his actions on Raw. Here is a recap of what happened on Raw and a potential angle on how WWE can involve Seth Rollins in the Drew McIntyre vs CM Punk match at WWE SummerSlam 2024.

What happened on Raw?

On the July 15, 2024, episode of Monday Night Raw, Adam Pearce called out Drew McIntyre to have a meeting and check if he could handle business. Pearce said that he wanted to run something special with Drew. He believes that CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre is special and everyone wants it. He asked how badly Drew wanted the match with Punk and told him that he was ready to give him, but all he wanted from Drew was to apologize to the two innocent referees, who he attacked at the Money in the Bank post-show.

Drew however refused to apologize and said that he didn’t trust the referees, as they were also the ones who screwed him every time, under the control of Adam Pearce. Drew lost his mind and said that Pearce deserved the back elbow strike on his teeth and said that he wouldn’t apologize to anyone. This made Pearce angry and he upheld his suspension. Drew then pushed the referees down and Seth Rollins made the save, making Drew retreat.

Seth Rollins to referee CM Punk vs Drew Mcintyre’s match

A WWE fan on X/Twitter pitched a potential angle for the triangle feud with CM Punk, Drew McIntyre & Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2024. 

Based on the fans’ speculations, as McIntyre refused to apologize to the officials, the officials could refuse to referee for the match between CM Punk & Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam. Where Seth Rollins can step in as a special guest referee for the match between the two. Similar to how WWE booked Shawn Michaels as the referee for the Bret Hart vs The Undertaker match at SummerSlam 1997.
