WWE has followed strict policies over the years and fined top stars for going beyond the line.
WWE has attracted a pool of talented and world-class athletes over four decades. Being a global giant in the business, the company has followed guidelines, rules, and policies to make sure WWE superstars perform safely and securely.
However, there have been a few instances where WWE superstars crossed the line set by the management and had to pay in the form of hefty fines in real life. Here are the top five instances when WWE superstars were fined by the regime:
5. Lars Sullivan
The dominant and brash, Lars Sullivan who was supposed to be modeled into a dominant WWE machine faced multiple fines at the very start of his monster push. His first fine came after an old yet extremely offensive video on a weightlifting forum. Following the incident, an array of adult content involving Lars also emerged costing him even more money and leading to his eventual departure from the company in 2019.
4. Titus O’Neil
The proud WWE ambassador, Titus O’Neil paid a hefty price for a playful and unintentional incident back in 2016. After Daniel Bryan’s first retirement speech concluded, former WWE chairman Vince McMahon and Stephanie were making their way to the back. In that instance, Titus playfully grabbed the Chairman to allow Stephanie to proceed first. However, Vince did not take it too well, suspending Titus O’Neil for 90 days, which was later reduced to 60 days, and fined him for his actions.
3. Batista, Chris Jericho, Dean Malenko and Mike Choida
The duo of top WWE superstars, Batista and Chris Jericho squared off against each other on the 800th episode of Monday Night RAW. Despite WWE following a strict “no-blading policy, the duo ignored it and were fined by the company with Batista paying a whopping $100,000 and Jericho paying $25,000 respectively. Moreover, even the referee for the bout, Mike Choida and match producer Dean Malenko were charged with small fines. But in the end, it was The Animal who covered up the fines for all people involved.
2. Randy Orton
The journey of Randy Orton’s rise as a bonafide future WWE Hall of Famer had its ups and downs. During his early years, he violated the WWE wellness policy on multiple occasions and also proved to be hard to work with often not listening to the management. Moreover, Randy also got into altercations with fans and even had inappropriate behavior towards other superstars leading to being fined multiple times by the company.
1. Undertaker & Triple H
During their epic encounter at WrestleMania 27, bonafide legends, The Undertaker and Triple H violated the no chairshots to the head policy to add more brutality, physical aspect and credibility to their showdown. Despite being Vince’s son-in-law and one of his trusted soldiers, both Triple H and The Undertaker ended up being an undisclosed amount for their actions that made their WrestleMania match one for the ages.
