Bryan Danielson (aka Daniel Bryan) is an American Professional Wrestler, who is currently signed with All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Danielson has been in wrestling since 1999 and has stepped foot in almost every major promotion including WWE, AEW, NJPW, ROH and other independent circuits.
Although Danielson wrestled in some of the big promotions, he got his fame and popularity during his time in WWE, where he wrestled under the name Daniel Bryan from 2009 to 2021. He is a nine-time champion there and the 15th Grand Slam Champion of the company.
Despite having a career-defining run, Bryan left WWE to join AEW in 2021 and has been a major star for the company. The 42-year-old’s current contract with AEW is set to expire within months, and it kick-starts a question, Is Bryan Danielson returning to WWE? Here we explore the possibilities.
Is Bryan Danielson returning to WWE?
As of now, based on the reports, rumors and Bryan’s tease the simple answer could be ‘No’. Bryan Danielson (aka Daniel Bryan) has been teasing retirement from in-ring competition after his current contract with AEW expires.
In September 2023, on an episode of AEW Dynamite, The American Dragon revealed that he set his sights on retirement, stating that he had promised his daughter that he would start finishing up his career when she is seven. It is important to note that her daughter, Birdie is six now and will be turning seven this year. He said that he is the man of his word, especially to his loved ones, and hinted that he is running out of time.
Bryan Danielson said,
“I told my daughter that once she turned seven, I would start finishing up on my career, and she is six right now, and I’m a man who keeps my promises, especially to the people I love. So, guess what, time is running out.”
In the most recent interview, Danielson addressed that his contract with AEW is expiring soon before AEW All In in September 2024 and said that he wanted to end the journey with AEW All In. However, wish to have his last match on Wrestle Dream in Tacoma Dome.
