The Second City Saint was attacked by The Scottish Warrior at SmackDown.
CM Punk, who has been a persistent thorn in Drew McIntyre’s side despite being sidelined with an injury, has shown an unwavering determination to disrupt McIntyre’s championship pursuits. His recent antics at major events like Clash at the Castle and WrestleMania 40 have kept the WWE Universe buzzing about his potential in-ring return.
After the controversial events at Clash at the Castle, where Punk made his presence felt despite his injury, he expressed his intention to seek medical clearance. Punk aimed to deliver positive news on SmackDown, fueling speculation about his imminent return. But Drew McIntyre made a statement by destroying CM Punk. Recent reports indicate that CM Punk is unlikely to participate in Money in the Bank, with WWE possibly targeting his return for SummerSlam.
CM Punk is speculated to make his in-ring return at WWE SummerSlam 2024
According to insider Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is hoping that the highly anticipated battle between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre will take place at SummerSlam on August 3rd, in Cleveland. Despite these ambitions, it is unclear whether Punk will be prepared and medically cleared by that day. Meltzer added that, while Punk may be prepared, it is “not a sure thing.”
Drew McIntyre assaulted CM Punk on SmackDown in retaliation for his actions the previous week. McIntyre also removed Punk’s wristband and left him untouched on stage. The fans were concerned about McIntyre’s attack on Punk and wanted an update on him.
A video confirms that Punk is fit and ready to return shortly. The former WWE Champion was seen exiting the show’s arena in his car. Hundreds of people gathered outside the arena to film Punk driving his car. The WWE veteran is scheduled to be off television for a few weeks.
As WWE fans excitedly anticipate CM Punk’s announcement on SmackDown, the wrestling industry remains on edge, speculating on his possible comeback and the repercussions for Drew McIntyre’s title hopes. With SummerSlam approaching, a matchup between these two titans promises to be a highlight of the WWE calendar, if Punk is medically cleared to compete.
