Drew McIntyre is one of the top WWE superstars on the current roster
Drew McIntyre began his wrestling career in 2001 in the United Kingdom, competing in Scottish promotions such as British Championship Wrestling (BCW) and Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW), as well as Irish Whip Wrestling (IWW) in Ireland. He was the inaugural ICW World Heavyweight Champion.
In 2007, he signed a developmental contract with WWE and was assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) and Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) after early appearances on SmackDown and Raw.
Under the moniker of “The Chosen One,” he returned to SmackDown in 2009 and captured the WWE Intercontinental Championship and WWE Tag Team Championship with Cody Rhodes. He eventually moved to the lower card and was released from WWE in 2014.
From 2014 to 2017, McIntyre found success on the independent scene, winning titles in ICW, Evolve, and TNA/Impact Wrestling, including the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.
He returned to WWE in 2017, won the NXT Championship, and later captured major titles on the main roster, including the WWE Championship, Raw Tag Team Championship, 2020 Royal Rumble, 2024 Money in the Bank, and the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL. He is the first British and only Scottish world champion in WWE history and a Triple Crown winner.
Is Drew McIntyre WWE Grand Slam Champion?
No, Drew McIntyre is not a WWE Grand Slam Champion. He has achieved a lot in WWE, but he is not officially recognized as a Grand Slam Champion. Despite winning multiple major titles and headline matches, one key championship still eludes him.
McIntyre is a two-time WWE Champion and won the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL in 2024. He has also held the Intercontinental Championship, the Raw Tag Team Championship (with Dolph Ziggler & Cody Rhodes), and won both the 2020 Royal Rumble and the 2024 Money in the Bank ladder match. These accomplishments have cemented his place as one of the most successful WWE Superstars of the modern era.
However, to become a Grand Slam Champion under WWE’s modern format, a wrestler must win a world title, a tag team title, and both secondary titles, including the Intercontinental and United States Championships. McIntyre has never won the U.S. Title, which is the only belt keeping him from completing the Grand Slam. He remains a Triple Crown Champion but still has one goal left to chase.
