John Cena was the first to pitch the plan of London hosting WrestleMania
WrestleMania is the biggest annual professional wrestling event hosted by WWE. Over the years, WWE has hosted a total of 40 successful WrestleMania events across the United States and has broken multiple records. Last year, during the Money in the Bank PLE, John Cena seeded the tease of London potentially hosting WrestleMania in the future. Following that, London Mayor Sadiq Khan teased bringing WrestleMania to London and Triple H reacted to it.
On Thursday, WWE President Nick Khan and WWE Chief Content Officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque met the London Mayor to discuss their ambition and all three had a productive talk and it gave hope that London could be the first international city to host WrestleMania. However, they have a long way to go in the discussions to make it official. At this stage, John Cena himself has stood in support of the London Mayor and the fans in the UK to host WrestleMania there.
Sadiq Khan on WrestleMania in London
The Mayor of London, Saddiq Khan on X/Twitter posted a picture of him with WWE President Nick Khan & WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H. He added the caption saying that he met Triple H & Nick Khan yesterday to discuss the ambition to bring WrestleMania to London and promised to cement London as the sports capital of the world by working with the WWE team.
Saddiq Khan wrote,
“Yesterday I welcomed Paul “@TripleH” Levesque and @WWE President Nick Khan to City Hall to discuss our ambition to bring WrestleMania to London. I’m determined to cement our city’s reputation as the undisputed sports capital of the world and it’s exciting to be working with the WWE team.”
John Cena wants WrestleMania in London
John Cena retweeted the post in support of the London Mayor and said that the city of London earned a chance to host WrestleMania. However, he won’t be competing when that happens, however will be there at the event as a fan.
John Cena wrote,
“The city of London, and all of the UK has supported WWE through thick and thin. I try to minimize using the word “deserve” so I will use more appropriate terms. I’ve said it before and stand by it. In my mind London has EARNED a chance to host WrestleMania. I won’t get to compete when it happens but I will BE THERE as a fan for sure!”
John Cena has already announced his retirement and his last match will be at WrestleMania 41 at the Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Las Vegas, Nevada, United States, next year.
The host city for WrestleMania 41 and WrestleMania 42 has already been announced, and the potential WrestleMania London deal could be on or after 2027. Will you be excited to see WrestleMania in London in the future? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
