John Cena lists The Rock, CM Punk & others among the greatest trash talkers of all time: WWE

The Undisputed WWE Champion is promoting his upcoming movie
Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena recently defended his title for the second time against CM Punk in the main event of Night of Champions last week in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The chaotic match also saw Seth Rollins trying to cash in the MITB contract.
Following the title win, Cena is currently promoting his upcoming film, Heads of State, alongside fellow cast member Idris Elba. The film is now available to watch on Prime Video and also features Priyanka Chopra.
John Cena sat down with Complex alongside Idris Elba
During his promotional stint, Cena and Elba sat down with Complex, and the Undisputed Champion was asked to name his greatest of all-time’ of wrestling trash talk.
Cena, while acknowledging that it’s a tough question to answer, named Roddy Piper, The Rock, Stone Cold, as well as his Night of Champions opponent CM Punk, as the GOAT trash talkers of all time.
“That’s a tough one,. Some pioneers, again. Roddy Piper comes into play. You can’t ignore Dwayne The Rock Johnson, nor Stone Cold Steve Austin, CM Punk.”

John Cena lauds Batista for his transformation
As per the format, the two stars continued asking each other questions, wherein Elba asked Cena who, according to him, was the “GOAT wrestler turned actor.”
Responding to the question, Cena answered with names like Roddy Piper and Hulk Hogan, and then went on to laud the work that Dave Bautista (Batista) has done. Cena also praised Batista’s body transformation for new roles and his acting range.
“I do enjoy No Holds Barred and They Live, so Roddy Piper, maybe, Hulk Hogan. I’m going to give respect where respect is earned. Dave Bautista. The dude has range and is like now has like transformed his whole body.
So he’s the stuff he’s about to do. Look out for Dave Bautista. The stuff he’s already done is incredible. But as far as like wrestler turned actor with like the range, you know me, I’m just d*ck change. That’s it. Dave’s got range.”
John Cena is advertised for the July 18 episode of WWE SmackDown
Following the bout at NOC, WWE fans are now waiting for Cena’s next appearance and what his next move will be. Cody Rhodes winning the King of the Ring tournament means he has now earned a title shot at SummerSlam and would likely battle Cena in a rematch.
However, fans would have to wait a little bit for Cena’s appearance as he is likely going to miss the July 4 and 11 episodes of SmackDown.
As per WWE.com, John Cena is currently being advertised for the July 18, 2025, episode, which will emanate live from the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas.
