John Cena names key differences between WWE & Hollywood

John Cena is one of the greatest professional wrestlers in WWE history!
John Cena is one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time who has been in WWE for more than two decades. The GOAT has a great history with WWE and has been involved in some of the important and monumental events of the company. Cena is the default face of the company throughout his run and has always been in a high-profile championship spotlight.
The 16-time champion in the mid-2010s moved to Hollywood by becoming a part-time wrestler. Cena is one of the few stars to achieve success in both WWE & Hollywood. As years passed, Cena’s in-ring career became occasional and he became a full-time Hollywood star.
Cena has recently announced his retirement from WWE and is all set for a farewell tour next year. Ahead of the farewell tour, Cena addressed the key differences between WWE and Hollywood in a recent interview.
John Cena spots differences between WWE & Cinema
John Cena recently appeared in an interview on Bullseye with Jesse Thorn, where Cena discussed the key differences between WWE & Hollywood. Cena said that both are two different disciplines, as the strategies for both are different from each other. He said that everything in the movies should be a miss, as safety is the priority until the director wants to shoot the impacts. On the other hand, Cena said that one cannot stack punches in live performances in WWE, as the wrestlers are more in contact than in cinema.
John Cena said,
“They’re just two different disciplines. The strategies you learn in live performance are different from the strategies you would incorporate with camera cutaways. Uh, in the movies, everything should be a miss. Because you can stack it and [it’s] safe first. Like the goal really, truly is not to hit the other person you’re fighting. If a director should choose or if a coordinator should choose to shoot the impacts, then you’re kind of towing that line. But in a live performance… you can’t stack punches. You have to bring them all. So there’s a lot more physical contact.”
Cena continued by saying that he likes the magic aspect of cinema, as it makes some wonderful choreography which creates a masterpiece when aligned, however in live performances it is what it actually is.
“But I like the magic. I don’t like getting hit in the face. So I like the magic aspect of cinema, and it really makes for some wonderful choreography, especially when you can film it in beats and then weave it all together and see it as a masterpiece where, you know, in a live performance, you have what you have.”
