The 17-time World Champion is set to battle R-Truth this Saturday!
After successfully defending the Undisputed WWE Championship at Backlash 20205, John Cena is now set to battle R-Truth in a non-title match at the May 24 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event, which will air from the Yeungling Center in Tampa, Florida.
During his title defense at Backlash 2025 against Randy Orton, Cena was saved from eating a punt kick by R-Truth and later capitalized on the interference to win the match.
However, Cena repaid Truth by putting him through the table at the post-show press conference. The two stars are now set to battle in a singles non-title match this Saturday.
John Cena wants to re-do his ruthless aggression character
The 17-time World Champion has been in the WWE since 2002 and has been the star attraction since 2005, until his transition to Hollywood, ending his full-time wrestling career.
The G.O.A.T. of pro wrestling made his debut against Kurt Angle on the June 27, 2002 episode of SmackDown, where he now in an iconic segment, declared that the thing that made him special was “ruthless aggression.”
During his recent appearance at the Philadelphia Fan Expo, Cena revealed that the ruthless aggression gimmick is the one that he wishes to redo from his WWE career.
“The time period I wish I had a do-over for was the ruthless aggression character. I did nothing with it,” Cena said.
During the Q&A, Cena also named the most interesting feuds he’s had over his legendary career, he named The Rock and CM Punk, and left the third one for the fans to decide, leading a fan to yell Randy Orton’s name to which Cena replied, “sure”.
Cena also offered his thoughts on R-Truth, claiming that Cena is his “childhood hero”. Replying to the question during the Q&A at the Fan Expo, of Truth naming him as his “childhood hero,” Cena turned down the claim, stating,
“How in the space time continuum can I be R-Truth’s childhood hero when he’s 150 years old. It doesn’t make any sense.”
