Vince stepped away from WWE in 2023
Vince McMahon may have officially stepped away from WWE and TKO Holdings in 2023, but speculation about his potential return is far from over.
Over the past few weeks, rumors have intensified around the idea that the former WWE Chairman is exploring ways to buy the company back. Now, former WWE personality Jonathan Coachman has added fuel to the fire with some bold claims of his own.
Speaking on the Behind the Turnbuckle podcast, Coachman revealed that a credible source told him Vince McMahon is dissatisfied with the direction WWE is heading under its current leadership. He also emphasized that McMahon remains open to the idea of regaining control of the company if an opportunity arises.
“I said that I talked to a source who said Vince was looking to invest in different things, that he’s not happy with the current product—and if it presented itself, he’d be open to buying back in. And what did Shane just say? The exact same thing,” Coachman stated.
Coachman also dismissed the widely held belief that McMahon lacks the financial resources to execute a buyback. He specifically highlighted McMahon’s long-standing relationship with Saudi Arabia, whose sovereign wealth funds collectively hold over $500 billion. In Coachman’s eyes, getting the required funds, estimated at around $20 billion, would not be an issue.
“The idea that Vince couldn’t get the money to do it is absurd. He’s got ties to Saudi Arabia. They have several sovereign funds with over $500 billion in them. You don’t think he could get $20 billion to buy WWE back and wipe TKO’s debt clean? Come on.”
You never know what’s going to happen: Shane on Vince McMahon buying back WWE
These comments came shortly after Shane McMahon was asked about similar rumors. Though Shane didn’t provide a direct answer, his words didn’t shut the door either.
“Well, you own a big part of TKO still, so you never know what’s going to happen there either. So, I’m not trying to be vague. I’m just saying anything can happen, of course.”
With both Coachman and Shane McMahon making such remarks, the speculation around Vince’s possible return to power is bound to continue. Whether he actually makes a move or not remains to be seen, but clearly, the door isn’t entirely closed.
