WWE shows in India are currently available on Sony Sports Network
The Stamford-based promotion ushered into 2025 with a new look as Monday Night Raw shifted from television to exclusively on Netflix, while in some regions the promotion aired as usual due to previous contracts, India was one of those markets where WWE aired exclusively on Sony Pictures Network India (SPNI).
RAW, SmackDown, Premium Live Events and other shows are now broadcast on Netflix in most regions globally and India will be added to the list soon, SmackDown and PLEs remained on USA Network and Peacock in the United States.
Sony Pictures Network India (SPNI) is currently the exclusive broadcaster for regular programming, PLEs and events. However, the deal which was made in 2020, where SPNI renewed the WWE media rights for an estimated $180-210 million over five years, is set to expire in March 2025.
The streaming giant has already announced via all their social media platforms that WWE programs are soon coming to their platform in India in April.
Netflix India has now shared a video announcing the official transition featuring WWE CCO Triple H who hyped the transition and announced that along with RAW, NXT and SmackDown, every PLE from Royal Rumble to SummerSlam will be available on Netflix.
“Starting on April 1st, WWE has a brand new home in India, this means RAW, SmackDown, NXT every Premium Live Event from the Royal Rumble to SummerSlam and all of it leads to the grandest stage of all, WrestleMania!
So, India! I’ll ask you one more time, are you ready? becasuse this is the bginning of the Netflix era!” Triple H said.
The transition will mark the end of a historic partnership between SPNI and the Stamford-based promotion while opening the door for exciting possibilities in the future.
Ahead of the transition, WWE content and programs have slowly started appearing on Netflix India, with labels indicating they will be available from April 1. The trailers are now available on the platform, with everything expected to follow soon.
