JD McDonagh suffered a serious injury on WWE RAW
JD McDonagh has a ruptured lung after a harrowing encounter on Monday Night Raw. The 34-year-old Irishman teamed up with fellow Judgment Day star Dominik Mysterio and challenged the War Raiders’ Erik and Ivar for the WWE World Tag Team Championship.
Midway into the fight, McDonagh executed a springboard moonsault to the outside of the ring and crashed violently with the announce table.
While his neck seemed to whiplash against the desk, McDonagh explained to X: “First off, thanks to everyone for the messages and the concern. I’m good. ‘I’ve got a couple of broken ribs and a punctured lung, so I’m going to be out for a couple months. All things considered, it could have been a lot worse, so I’m grateful for that. See ya in a bit.”
Despite being checked on by the ringside doctor during the commercial break, McDonagh finished the bout and received a wave of applause from the audience. Fans have also rallied behind him on social media, hoping he hasn’t been gravely harmed.
His Judgment Day colleague Dominik Mysterio sent a hat tip gif with heart hands and salute emojis, while WWE producer and retired wrestler Shane ‘Hurricane’ Helms added: ‘JD McDonagh is a f’n stud!’
And Raw wrestler Chad Gable stated: “JD McDonagh is remarkable.”
Elsewhere on Raw, the show began with Seth Rollins and GUNTHER feuding ahead of the Royal Rumble, while Logan Paul joined in and pledged to win the massive battle this weekend.
Rey Mysterio defeated Xavier Woods, whose family appeared to ringside and expressed their displeasure with how he and Kofi Kingston had recently acted.
It was also announced that Zelina Vega would make her final appearance with the LWO, since she had been transferred to SmackDown via the transfer site.
Jey Uso pledged to win the Rumble, while Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez defeated Women’s Tag Team Champions Bianca Belair and Naomi in non-title action.
Paul Heyman used the WWE 2K25 cover reveal to promote Roman Reigns for the Rumble, but Drew McIntyre interrupted and promised to eliminate CM Punk in that match.
In the night’s last encounter, Sami Zayn was denied a victory against the Scottish Warrior, with Cody Rhodes saving him following a post-match onslaught.
Kevin Owens took advantage with his own attack, while McIntyre returned to the battle, evading a Helluva Kick that caught the American Nightmare instead.
As he recovered, Rhodes addressed the fans, prompting an appearance by CM Punk, who engaged in a tense and heated brawl on the microphone.
