Roman Reigns is one of the biggest WWE superstars of all time in the company’s history.

Roman Reigns is the epitome of one of the most successful WWE superstars of all time. From a babyface who transitioned into the ruthless Tribal Chief, Reigns has come a long way in the global juggernaut.

However, behind his larger-than-life personality, Reigns is a family man with his world. So here are the seven less-known facts about the man who was WWE World Champion for 1,316 days:

7. Management Degree

While Roman Reigns excelled inside the squared circle in the last few years, The Tribal Chief also holds a remarkable academic accolade. Reigns went to Georgia Tech University and acquired a degree in management, being a highly educated individual who ultimately chose sports over academics.

6. Hall of Famer Father

Roman Reigns’ father, Sika, paved the way for multiple family members of the Anoa’i family, including Reigns, to live their dreams of becoming a WWE superstar. He and his brother, Afa, gained prominence as part of The Wild Samoans, and their efforts were recognized with a Hall of Fame induction in 2007.

5. Debuted Against The Son of a WWE Hall of Famer

The debut of Roman Reigns took place at WWE’s former developmental territory, FCW, in 2010, and his opponent also came from wrestling royalty. He was none other than Richie Steamboat, son of WWE Hall of Famer Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, with the duo putting up a stellar showdown that saw Reigns lose the match.

4. Defeated Leukemia Twice

Roman Reigns has battled Leukemia twice in his life. The first time he was diagnosed with a health scare was in 2007, which put an end to his football aspirations, but he managed to overcome it with his mother’s support. In 2018, he was once diagnosed with Leukemia, due to which he relinquished the WWE Universal Title and left the company for treatment. Reigns came back months later and announced that he was in remission once again, beating the deadly disease.

3. Multi-Sport Athlete

Roman Reigns has been known to be a remarkable wrestler and football player. Besides that, The former Big Dog also excelled in track and field during high school, contributing to his sports endeavors later on.

2. Early WWE Gimmick

Before the world saw him as part of The Shield, Roman Reigns had a different gimmick in FCW and then in NXT in the early 2010s. He donned the gimmick of a “dress to impressive” narcissist heel under the name Leakee. Later on, he was repackaged as The Muscle of The Shield.

1. The Big Family Man

Roman Reigns is a big family man and is known to spend a lot of time with them outside the squared circle. Reigns, alongside his wife, Galina Becker, had a daughter named Jojo in 2007, followed by two twin boys in 2016 and then another pair of twin boys in 2020.
