Cena is a 16-time World Champion in WWE
John Cena’s heel turn at Elimination Chamber 2025 is truly one of the most shocking moments in WWE history. Cena won the Chamber match and was set to take on Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Title in the main event of WrestleMania 41. But during the closing moments of the show, John Cena decided to ‘sell his soul’ to The Rock, launching a brutal assault on Cody Rhodes in the process.
The 16-time World Champion appeared in the post-show also, but refused to say anything and left after dropping the mic. Cena then appeared on the Road to WrestleMania 41 European tour on Monday Night Raw in Brussels, Belgium, calling out the WWE Universe and how they treated him over the last two decades. He went on to “breakup” with the fans.
Cody Rhodes interrupted Cena and said that he didn’t want to face “this” version of John Cena. His next appearance was once again on WWE RAW at the OVO Hydro. Glasgow, Scotland, where he once again went after the WWE Universe.
His final advertised appearance ahead of WrestleMania 41 came at the O2 Arena in London, when he was hit with a Cross Rhodes by Cody Rhodes.

Liv Morgan & Dominik Mysterio on John Cena’s heel turn
Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio recently sat down with Khel Now for an exclusive interview. When asked about John Cena’s shocking heel turn and actions after that, Dominik replied:
I mean, like I’ve said before, I just… I’ve always… I knew the kind of person Cena was. I grew up around him. You know, I’ve seen him since I was eight years old. So I kind of just expected it. It was just a matter of time, you know, and he finally snapped, broke up with all you guys. You guys all cried about it. But yeah, we’ll see what happens with this.
John Cena will now face Cody Rhodes in the main event of night two of WrestleMania 41. Do you think Cena will finally break the record and win his 17th World Title this month? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
