Liv Morgan will soon be starting her film
The wrestling world is buzzing this week, and for good reason, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Liv Morgan is officially taking Hollywood by storm.
Following her announcement on Raw this past Monday (April 28), we now know why Morgan is stepping away from the ring, and it’s nothing short of monumental.
Morgan has been cast in Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo, the latest entry in the iconic Bad Lieutenant film franchise, which will be helmed by none other than legendary Japanese director Takashi Miike. Known for genre-defying, visceral cinema like Audition, 13 Assassins, and Ichi the Killer, Miike brings decades of experience and a cult following to this project.
The film is being produced by NEON, the studio behind last year’s horror hit Longlegs and Oscar-winner Anora and is set to begin filming this May.
Liv Morgan joins an international cast that includes Japanese superstar Shun Oguri in the title role and acclaimed British actress Lily James, who plays an enigmatic FBI agent.
Morgan’s role is central to the story as she portrays the kidnapped daughter of a powerful politician, whose disappearance kicks off a high-stakes investigation filled with moral ambiguity, underground violence and psychological turmoil.
This marks Morgan’s most significant acting role to date. While fans may remember her cameo in The Kill Room and her fun stint on Chucky, Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo is her first major dramatic role where she steps completely outside of her WWE persona.
With a gripping plot, a darkly stylish director, and a major international release in the works, including international rights being shopped at Cannes, this could be the breakout moment that establishes Morgan as more than just a wrestling star.
For WWE fans, this move is exciting and bittersweet. We’ll miss her on our screens each week, but seeing Liv Morgan potentially evolve into a Hollywood “it girl” is a journey worth cheering for. Whether she’s laying down challengers in the ring or taking on gritty film roles, Liv Morgan continues to prove she’s championship material in every arena.
